Exactly. And I read somewhere that it was F1 themselves more than the promoter who was behind this ....

They also spread a bunch of sand on the parking lot behind the 'yacht club' to create a 'beach' complete with cabanas for stupid money.

Just wait until the Miami super models come out and start hanging out on those boats and the fake beach. It will all be worth it.

CurtEgerer 05-03-2022 05:37 AM

I wonder if they would be opposed to me bringing a fishing pole?

I haven’t been a fan of Liberty Media, at all, since they bought F1. This is not the first idea they’ve had that I wasn’t on board with.

I’m too steeped in the origins of F1 to even tolerate what it has become in recent years. It’s not what it was, it is not what it should be, and my interest has largely evaporated as a result.

That’s absolutely retarded. I can’t believe they would do such a thing.

They trying to unseat Caesars palace as the worst F1 race in history?

If people pay for it it's not stupid.

It's Miami, lots of stupid money there. $38,000 to be seen in a place like that is worth it to a certain crowd.

“A bit of Monaco in Miami.”

We might just become the laughingstock of the entire sports world.

America, home of the classless rednecks.

And a bunch of self important 'celebs', NBA/NFL guys, and others that have no idea who is even racing. Just think back to Serena Williams at Monaco trying to interview Max(?) or whomever it was. It was just painful.

If it gets on these people's social media and they can blast it out to all their followers it will get massive exposure.

I’m embarrassed for them.

David 05-03-2022 12:28 PM

It would be interesting if they tried to fill the marina with water. I can only imagine the hilarity that would ensue.

thinking it might be just as bad as this one

Maybe they will do a GP of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge next. It is pretty low brow, probably beats out Branson

javadog 05-03-2022 02:25 PM

Not only is this a monumentally tacky idea, they’re ripping off the name. There is an organization that does annual combined car and boat shows, called Keels and Wheels.

Tell me that’s not where they got the idea for the name, even though they rearranged the words so they wouldn’t get sued.

RBNetEngr 05-03-2022 03:09 PM

Hey, it’s $38k for a party of four. Only $9500 for an individual, or $19k for two.

I don't entirely disagree with you. But they say even a blind sow eventually finds corn.

At least they came up with engine regs that brought Porsche back. Helmut Marko is going to reunite with Porsche Motorsports. That alone is remarkable.

They are going to fill their 'marina' with water. I wonder if they will stage some scuba divers .... just in case. :D

I stand corrected. They are partially filling the marina with sand to get the level up around the boats and then covering it with a huge tarp to replicate water. Wow.

The more I learn about this race venue, the less I like it. Miles from downtown Miami. Miles from the water. The absurd fake marina.

This could’ve been held in Orlando, for all the relevance it has to Miami.

It’s another parking lot Grand Prix, just around a football stadium, as opposed to a casino.
