Well, I suppose it beats a fake parking lot marina with docks and yachts! :D

Also, Alex Palou had some interesting insights after his FP1 outing.

I have no issue with the drivers goofing on Texas stereotypes, I think they really like being there, and the cowboy siht lets them just have fun for a minute. (I have pictures of me with a cowboy outfit on, why shouldn't they? Sure, I'm five years old in mine, but hey...fun is fun!)

Some of my favorite images from Texas are the cars cresting the hill with the giant Lone Star flag in the background

Its not Texas silliness, it is a bunch of Euros' and Aussies' interpretation of Texas. Danny Ric is a hoot but he looks like a clown. If you want to dress like a Texan/cowboy, take a look at the King, George Strait. That is how to dress; Wranglers, roper boots (not high heel pointy toe boots), starched shirt, straw hat in summer, felt in winter. AND FFS, take your hat off when inside (George gets a pass wearing his indoors during a concert).

Danny Ric's horse stunt on Thursday was a bust. He was just sitting on it while a real cowboy led the horse around.

Anyone watch FP2 yesterday? Ant's explanation of the tire testing was great, that guy is one of the sharpest out there and has a plethora of knowledge. Danica had no idea what he was talking about. During his talk, he specifically said the teams/drivers have no idea what compound they are testing. A few minutes later Danica asked whether the drivers/teams knew what compound they were testing.

I ended up not being able to get away to attend yesterday. In a way I'm glad. FP1 was jammed packed. The time to go was FP2, it was a small fraction of the crowd.

Interesting though that the guys in FP2 did 26+ laps. How does that play into engines and how many they get per season???

matthewb0051 10-22-2022 07:59 AM

I forgot, heavy starch and press your Wranglers but that's a little more old school 20 years ago stuff.

engines are practice units ether older ones or non race units used only on friday

sat the race motors are put in

3 units oF 4 types el motor, turbo +motor, THEN THE actual ENGINE, AND TRANS

THEN PENALTY OF 5 GRID SPOTS EACH TYPE UNIT REPLACED

i THINK every one has take one or more penalty's this year so far
some a lot more

I’m thinking this falls under what goes around comes around category.

Some F1 websites are stating that Williams will announce today that American driver Logan Sargeant has signed with the team for the second seat . Contingent on him securing his super license . Would a team make a major announcement like that knowing that the driver may not get the super license ?

Good news but who is this guy? Given he has been in Europe the past number of years to get to this point likely means that .005 % of Americans know who he is. We can hope that changes I suppose.

I saw some SM post within the last couple of weeks showing the number of employees of Mercedes and Haas. IIRC, Merc has about 4 or 5 times the number of folks.

Hammy made some comments this weekend something like have the rules or don't. Problem that some folks pointed out, if you just allow the spending then it will be the haves always winning. Although that isn't much different from current climate.

Looks like Williams has stated if Logan gets his super license the seat is his .

haas get most of the hard bits from the red guys eng trans ect
so no motor or el shop at all

no idea how the so claimed budget cap factors making the bits vs using them

OMG the F1TV feed is worth it..... just for this team principals press conference... Gold.
Never witnessed anything so awkward ;-) Except maybe toto/Horner last year.

Horner is getting raked over coals by journalists about the cost cap breach and Brown from McLaren is sitting right next to him, and they're taking turns commenting on why following these new cost cap rules was so hard (brown: "nah it wasn't, everyone else got it right"), the letter Brown wrote to the FIA "Cheaters should be punished" and Horner "How dare they call us cheaters, our employees children are getting bullied at school now" while they are not looking at one another and speaking to a third party, but sitting 2 feet from one another. It's quite fun to watch, and I must say I for one enjoy seeing the Horner-Marko team suffer a little...

Anyone know if there is a pre race show (Formula 1: Grand Prix Sunday) before the Austin race? Can’t seem to find it on the tv schedule for this race.

There is no separate pre-race show this week (Formula 1: Grand Prix Sunday), but the race broadcast starts at 12:30PM CDT, and race time is 14:00, so it looks like they will combine them. My YouTubeTV library shows the next pre-race show on the calendar for Oct 30 at 13:30 CDT for the Mexico Grand Prix.

He's been in Europe his entire career. Karts, F4, F3, F2. So, yes, nobody in the US has ever heard of him. He's an American who purposely doesn't race in America. The good news for him is he landed an F1 seat. The bad news is the best he can hope for is to stay out of last place at every race. He'll either fade into F1 obscurity and go to Indycar like Rossi, or have enough talent to be picked up by an F1 team that can compete for the podium.

I believe ESPN3 is free, you just have to log on using your cable provider. They give you a list to chose from and I seem to recall entering my Spectrum password.

Cleanup in aisle COTA.

rfuerst911sc 10-23-2022 11:55 AM

Very lucky he didn't flip over and not hit the end of the barrier !!! That could have been much uglier .

rfuerst911sc 10-23-2022 01:15 PM

Not a bad finish , amazing Alonso achieved points after taking flight . Also quite the drive by K Mag to one stop and get points . In hindsight they should have done that with Mick . And how about Vettel fighting for points ? Good for him . Danny Ric continues to be lost ☹️

Good clean battle for the win after a poor pit stop
Congrats to Redbull and Max on the constructors title and win!...fitting finish to honor Dietrich Mateschitz
