Slant nose 930
The thread on the white Targa and picking on Playa got me thinking. Is the Slant nose really that bad? I don't think I would buy one or get anywhere near it, but back in the 80's during High school, I would given my left nut for one. Still, I don't think they look that bad done correctly without all the bling bling.

I have never been a fan of them, when I had my 964T I could never decide if I like the version of it either. Of course they are $$$$ so I was not ever considering buying one.

I like em. I actually love the flachblau 964 cars. Just enough German guirky coolness from that era.
I almost bought a dark green slant , right before I grabbed my 930. I thought I really wanted it but decided that real Porsches have boobs , and sought out a normal bodied turbo instead . I like them plain, with boxed rockers, slant front, fuchs wheels, and nothing more . I wonder how they will fare as far as collecibility in the future . In my youth, they would have been un obtainable to a guy like me . That black one in the first post is drop dead sexy . Would bang Of course there were some really tacky ones made in the 80's . Ice Ice baby . ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() Shoot yea I'd have one (if I had 'Jay Leno money'). Is it out dated? Sure. So is a Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing, a 904, and a `63 Split Window Corvette. That doesn't mean they are undesirable. One of the things I love about my `87 Carrera is that it is a classic style and not some fat molten body style

I love them.
Unfortunately too many people riced them up too much and they just became garish. Stock wide body wit the flatnose is all you need.

Other than ridiculous creations by Gemballa and the like, my least favorite Porsche-made slant would probably be a slant nosed cab.

No love for the slant nose. Wreaks of 80’s gold chain poser culture.

I sold one for a shop's customer 20 years ago. They have a certain charm about them but the normal front fenders & headlights are one of the defining characteristics of a 911. Slant noses just aren't the same. But they are interesting.

I was a huge fan in the 80's, not so much now.

It's the most asked question I get when people see my SC or Carrera. "What do you think of the slant-nose Porsches?" Weird.

For me, one of my all time favorite Porsches would be one just like Chris Streit's, a silver 930. ![]()

^^^ I don't understand it either. Must be something about my location.
Another often asked Q is "What is a Tanga?" (from those are totally unfamiliar, and read the script wrong)

I built one on a 69' T chassis back in 84'. Man it was a blast to drive! Guards Red, 3.2l motor, Webers and BBS rims. Sold it when building our second house, as we had 7 Porsche's, and the wife wanted more in the house than in the garage. I think the 69' stock would be worth more today than what I did to it. I got the car back from the second owner after I sold it. after he hit a telephone pole. Sold all the parts and made quite a bit on it all. But is sure was an eye catcher back in its day!

I’ve always liked them, but not the over the top style, like Gembella, or “Playa’s” type car, etc.
Question, did they make a slant nose with no rear fender slats? Seems like all of them have them. Last edited by A930Rocket; 01-03-2022 at 07:16 PM.. |

They've aged well. A few years ago they looked hideous but not now.
