The crime scene clean up guys I deal with use a chemical fogger and ozone generator to get rid of decomp smell, which permeates everything. Works suprinsgly well..

Way back when, we used to use a hot water pressure washer to clean the interiors of cars. I would strip out everything, lay it in the driveway and pressure wash it. It was amazing what came out of carpet, seats etc. Letting it dry in the sun really helped.

The only way to get rid of the smell 100% is to sell the truck. You can get rid of most of the stink but once it's tainted that bad sensitive noses will always know.

I bought my MS3 on the cheap because the PO was obviously a heavy smoker.

My quickest improvement happened when I started to leave the car in the sun with the windows cracked. You want the heat to get the volatile compounds in the air, but you also need ventilation so it can exit the vehicle and not just soak back in. So, if your car sits in the lot, go back and crack the windows only an inch all around to get it hotter.

I had that car for 1.5 years and sold it for more than what I paid for. Partly because it was no longer stinky.

I had the same thing with a used car.

We deep cleaned and tried everything. Got better, but still lingered, especially on warm days.

Ozonator worked. $100 Amazon.

Got my truck over to the dealer today:

Was feeling better and dropped my PU truck off at the dealer today for estimate on theft damage. The ignition was popped plus the drivers door lock, steering wheel cut, (it had the Club on it when stolen), a few other miscellaneous items. The dealer body shop handles theft recovery damage and he is going to try to include carpet and headliner replacement due to smell and a burn hole in carpet. Good guys at this one.

Here she is, looking surprisingly ok:

Never lost it, unfortunately. Would have come in handy with the stink in this truck now.

That’s a score if they can get it replaced!

I never lost my sense of smell either when I had it.

Dude! That's a nice looking rig! No rust on the cab corners. No rust on the rear wheel wells. Send that thing to Ohio for a few weeks so we can getting it looking like an older Ford should look!

Replace whatever smells. Interior of modern cars is easy to R&R.

Yep, that's what an unsalted '99 looks like.

If nobody has said it, yet--Ozium.

Not the spray, but the gelatin in a can (like many air fresheners). It really, really works.

I bought a house that reeked from previous chain smoker. Scrubbed everything with tsp, hired people to wash everything afain, then applied sealer primer and still house reeked. Bought chinese ozone generator on amazon and ran it an hour on 3 concurrent days. Crazy how well that worked. Wow is it toxic though. Place smelled clean on third day.

One closet still had a wiff of cigarette a few years later so bombed it once and its been good.

No need for a pro the generator was $45. But take care its not good to breathe!

I have a winix hr900. Not cheap but I think putting it in the vehicle on turbo mode might help and then you can use it in the house when the job is done. I love mine

Or just drive it around with windows down a few months and it will probably go away

Also, change out the vehicles cabin filter
