Tekton tools...anybody tried 'em?

With Craftsman being now chinese junk, and the recent word of SK having been sold to the mainland chinese, I wondered if anybody here has tried this line? Made in Tiawan...not to be confused with mainland china. Not yet, anyway...

I have a couple cheap bits. Maybe a 1/4 torque wrench? It strikes me as "ok." Meaning, I am perfectly fine with it. But, I am a tinkerer. Not a pro. And, not super particular. I think the top shelf Harbor Freight is perhaps better.

Again, my opinion isn't worth much here.

I have a set of their E Torx sockets, they appear to be properly made. I have used one with an impact gun and it didn't break, not recommended but it held up. The real test is when you need to replace one.

So, maybe something to replace the made in USA Craftsman tools? Report as far as replacement on youtube sounds good. Email a pic of a broken tool, they send another...good guarantee, in other words:

Great multi bit screw driver (I like it better than my SnapOn ratcheting screwdrivers).

Also made in Canada so there’s that. I think these have use a clutch bearing instead of a ratchet with a pawl.

Better that they don’t break in the first place. When my SnapOn stuff breaks (rarely), I can get it replaced immediately in most cases by the SnapOn guy who is a friend. No waiting for the mailman.

Free replacement (in time) doesn’t constitute high quality in my books.

I'm not thinking Snap-on quality, price, or service. But what's a good tool line, all factors considered, for the weekend warrior guy who works on his own cars. Craftsman used to fill that role...no more, since it's now a chinese junk level tools line.

Your comment reminds me of a long ago conversation with a local independent mechanic/shop owner. I said if I won a lottery, I'd buy a complete set of Snap-on...
He replied if he won a lottery, he'd give me all his snap-on tools, because he'd never work on a car again.

I'd love hearing about a made in USA tool line for the home mechanic that is as good as the made in USA Craftsman was. I'm thinking such a line doesn't exist.

I have bought several Williams sets through amazon, Taiwanese as well, maybe same factory. I think they are a good balance of cost/quality/availaible in 2 days prime.

Yes I have a few Tekton items and they have been fine. OTC is decent too. Both are better than Harbor Freight but not as nice as high end stuff (if that even exists anymore). Isn't SnapOn owned by Harbor Freight now?

I have a handful of Tekton wrenches and sockets that I bought to keep in an offroad rig. They're actually decent enough that I decided to try one of their 1/2" drive torque wrenches. Tested it against a Snap-On I've had for many years (and that admittedly hasn't been calibrated in a long time), an old beam-style and a digital torque adapter I picked up a couple of years ago.

Surprisingly, all are within about 4% of each other.
