As soon as you see people lining up along the exiting street, you know bad decisions will soon be made.

It's almost as though the Mustang drivers have never floored their cars until they have a crowd watching.

If you look at the tree/crowd, you WILL hit it.

Look where you want to go, and your hands will automatically steer in the correct direction to avoid the tree/crowd
But ok, in a Stang, doesn't matter, it is a crowdpleaser that just wants to cuddle the crowd.

Even then, some of these guys are going in a straight line, and when they punch it, the car starts fishtailing and gets away from them. A straight line is not always a guaranteed positive outcome.

so would these guys be driving an auto or a manual?
I would think auto, and the torque convertor prevents fine control over the power delivery, and that catches em off?

Auto with special order cars & coffee differential.

It’s a whole package. Steering gear, throttle tuning, rear steering, and differential.

don't forget the cupholders, it is after all cars and COFFEE , so that goes in the cupholder.. steering gear must be atuned to the offset weight and slushing liquid , else it goes wrong.

Keep the stangs cupholder free of coffee cup, no problem whatsoever.
You can put a pool cue in the car, fine, that's not a slushing liquid..

I've gotta ask though, after seeing dozens if not hundreds of these vids and knowing this is what frequently occurs.... why are you sitting there with your kids on the ground. Moreover, why did it take until after the car had stopped that you grabbed them.

yes eye control and then there is the PCA mantra in a spin both feet in.
basically just steering wheel straight then do burn out.
no wiggling the wheel to make it looser.

I've seen and been in vehicles that were pointed in a straight line and started fishtailing when the wheels started spinning. I'm pretty sure that it's a normal, natural thing. I think it has to do with weight transfer and or the rear end setup. The problem then is that they HAVE to wiggle the wheel to keep the car going, and if they don't the fishtail gets away from them. I think that's what happens. Yes, it's even worse if they start spinning the tires before everything is pointed in a straight line (which is often the case), but that's not a sure fire solution to a burnout in a straight line.

The worst part is that in each of the above videos...the Mustang owner will prob walk away with just a ticket or less.

Seeing some of these, my gut reaction is "the crowd should now trash the car, busted windows, every panel dented, etc...." If that happened, it might be a deterent. But, I don't actually support vigilantism. And if you started having that sort of thing occur, you'd also have escalation in other ways which wouldn't be good.

Hopefully these folks get damage to their cars when they go off, get tickets (at least, impoundment would be even better), and it would be great if their insurance companies saw the videos and refused to repair the cars.

The Cars and Coffee in Charlotte is on its (at least) 4th venue because of those idiots. Property owners get reports of this behavior and pretty soon you are no longer welcome. The Mustang has been supplanted around here by the Dodge Challenger guys, maybe an even worse crew.

On a serious note, can someone explain to me how there cars go out of control? I mean, hit the gas, car slides a little, correct steering, smash into curb. WTF is happening here?

What's happening is insufficient driving skill.

What’s happening is, they run out of talent, or never had it to begin with.

They run out of talent when they climb out of bed in the morning.

We have a cars and coffee in my area that is going into at least its 15th year, in the same location. How do they pull this off? They owe it to their "Goons", an army of friendly volunteers with radios, cell phones, and cameras in those cell phones. They have a very good relationship with the local police. They take note of, and keep a list of, the ass holes. Get on their list and you will never get in again. Screw up too bad, or behave badly enough, and they do not hesitate to forward all information, including video, to the police. Who actually will pursue it. Other cars and coffees in my area typically burn through three or four venues per year, because of "those" guys.

Yeah, those Porsches are plowing into crowds after Cars and Coffee events all the time.

weight on the rear axle helps, also helps that they are more expensive per hp to buy so the 400hp + ones tend to have people in them that are a bit more sensible.. and had to wait a long time driving less big hp cars so they learned to drive em well..exceptions do exist off course

I had a coworker that bought one of the 500hp Alfa Romeos a few years back when they first came out. Before that the most powerful car he'd even had was a Honda Accord. He was meticulous about not doing anything crazy during the 1000 mile break-in. Once he hit the 1000 miles, he was at a stop sign waiting to turn right and thought "I'll punch it and see what happens." So he put it in "race" mode which turns off all of the nannies, and punched it. As you can imagine, he fishtailed, didn't counter-steer, and promptly drove it up and over a curb and hit a tree with a glancing blow. The repair place (local ferrari dealer) had the car for 6 months. I think it ended up costing the insurance co $45k. He was deathly afraid of the car after that. Hopefully, he still is.
