a guy buzzed by me on the sidewalk..on a wheel! one wheel

i felt compelled to call to him and he stopped and showed it to me.

it was very cool looking, and he had the prerequisite safety gear. looks like a tough learning curve for sure. i have subpar balance abilities anyways. he showed me what it looked like at 30mph, and it look wild.

i was curious, and googled it. thankfully, it is expensive as hell!! what will they think of next?

One of these passed us in the bike lane the other day. Pretty much keeping up with traffic. They are fast.

I see these all over the place here in FloRida.

Just looked - $1K to $2K each.

I've seen a few on local MTB trails. Pretty cool. One guy could hit all the gap jumps with style.

There are several one wheeled conveyances out there. The ones that I like the most look like what you've got above, because they remind me of the comic "BC"

The other one that I used to see in downtown Houston a fair amount is like this.

THis is why I like the one like what you've got in your post

I see people on the one wheel pretty regularly here in the Seattle area, not uncommon to see someone wearing a motorcycle full face helmet riding one on the street and keeping up with traffic. I remember the first time I saw that from my office window I stood up and watched the guy zoom by and was just amazed at his speed... Appeared to be a guy commuting on it as his daily.

I can break my collarbone or shatter my elbow spending a lot less money.

I concur, they are everywhere.

Interstingly, they seem to have a lot more longevity than the Segway. They were on the streets but for a very short time. The single wheel for quite a bit longer so far.

There is a dude that flys down the streets near me on a slightly smaller version of a single wheel between the legs- he’s all geared up and we like to joke that it’s not a man, but rather a cyborg- he will wave back, so he was programmed with AI

Best wait until COVID settles down so there will be hospital beds available before you buy one!

Snow boarders on wheels. Different can be as good or better.

I love this new stuff; when I was young I would have been all over this stuff like a loose ball in basketball practice.

I was born to late...my hip broke looking at the pictures.

When I was that young, I was too broke to even pay attention!

Good one! I picture Rodney Dangerfield pitching that line.

I might be interested in one later on when they might be more common, refined, & lower in price. What's not to like about 30 mph & 70 miles per charge.

Man, I just noticed I passed 8K posts. I've got to find a life.

No kidding, you can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting someone on one variety of these or another. I have to wonder if we are kind of like we are with Teslas, where we have more per capita than anywhere else.

Oh, and the Sedgeway - are the airport load/unload zone cops still on them? About the only place I ever saw one in real life.
