iPhone 6 from 2016. Getting a 13 Pro soon.

astrochex 01-27-2022 03:38 AM

iPhone 8+ here.

Still solid, no plans to replace anytime soon.

iPhone 12. I could not remember what model I have or had - the last once was a 6 I think. I keep them as long as possible.

The phone is, like others have said, an essential aspect of my life in terms of business and the fact we no longer have a land line at the house.

I like the larger screen because I use it for navigation and Waze.

We tend to run ours for 3-5 years, but then when the battery gets bad, we'll often upgrade. You can often get the previous years models at a pretty steep discount. We are currently running XS. We bought them when they had been out for 1-2 years and were able to get them with max storage 512Gb cheaper than the 11 was at the time. And these are pretty comparable to the 11 Pro or something like that (OLED, larger screen, better cameras [but only 2]). I'm not feeling like I need to upgrade. And yes, the cameras are much better than the cameras were on our previous 6s.

I'm still using a 6S But the batt does not last the day thinking of going to the 13 mini

id10t 01-27-2022 04:29 AM

Just upgraded a few weeks ago from a (original) SE to a 12-mini, but only because it is time to get my daughter a phone and if I'm gonna spend $350 on a phone it will be for me.

We went from 7S' to the 13 Pro. As mentioned above, the camera(s) is fantastic. Battery life of the Pro is 18% better than the 13 (standard) - but it is a bit larger/heavier in comparison - due to the larger battery. Since there is no Home button - motions and/or combination of side buttons are used for features such as screen snapshots, etc. There is a slight learning curve to get familiar with it.

iphone 6 number 2 for me. The original needed a new battery two years ago so they just gave me a new 6.

masraum 01-27-2022 05:01 AM

You gents with bad batteries, you can get them replaced. I suspect it would cost $75-150 to have the battery replaced.

I still have my iPhone 1 or original in the closet. I moved from that to the 4, the the 6S with 64 gig, then to the 11 Pro 256 Gig that I have now. It is perfectly functional and fast. The camera is amazing with the three lenses and the overall quality of an image. The camera is the main reason I went for the Pro.

My business partner bought the 13 Pro and the camera is really amazing. It even has LIDAR, so you can map an object, and even do a topo map of your back yard if you are very patient and work hard at it.

I saw a TV program where they were using the LIDAR function to map an bit of the ground where dinosaur footprints were. They could measure the footprints super accurate with the LIDAR.

It is just mind blowing what a telephone can do now days.

This is a "happy snap" one photo of my car with the ultra wide lens. The camera has a "normal" and "telephoto" as well. In reality the normal is the standard wide angle lens that you are used to on a phone, and the telephoto is a "normal" or not wide angle lens. All with motion stabilization.

I'm a neanderthal & proud of it. I still use an LG flip phone, Have a nice small Nikon digital for pics. My life is not pressurized enough that I need immediate texts, emails & the ability to send photos. I can send emails, download any photo to send or leave a voicemail message. But not so anymore. I am being forced to learn & pay for new technology I have no interest in. Effective 12/31/22 Verizon tells me my phone will no longer work. They recommend I "Upgrade"

recycled sixtie 01-27-2022 05:52 AM

I still have an apple 5s which works just fine. It is small unlike the recent iphones...
Replaced the battery once. Perhaps slower than the latest but works for me.

911 Rod 01-27-2022 05:53 AM

I have an 8. Isn't that the latest? lol

I use my company issued iPhone, which is an 11, recently upgraded from a 6.
My wife has an xs, and my daughter an 11.

I have a 4 that I put away when I got the SE I just replaced, perfect condition, would go 36+ hours on a charge (note I turn off location services, push notifications, siri, etc)

If you want it send me a PM

Eric Hahl 01-27-2022 06:58 AM

Still on the 7 until it dies.

javadog 01-27-2022 07:17 AM

I am 20 models short of being current with the latest and greatest.

Otter74 01-27-2022 07:17 AM

Couple of years ago went from a 6-era SE to a new AA Pro, which was...wow. didn't even cost me anything, which made it even better.

Zeke 01-27-2022 07:19 AM

6s

Your car requires a phone upgrade... - Wow!

I wonder how long until your phone requires a car upgrade.

I suppose this is not new. My wife had a MBz S-class that built-in phone was obsoleted by cell phones going digital. - ah, analog bands of the late 90's...

Scott Douglas 01-27-2022 08:04 AM

7 here. I don't want anything bigger as I already have enough trouble carrying this one around with me. I have real cameras if I want to take a picture of something.
