Where were you?

During Pelican's likely longest PPOT Forum outage?

I don't think our problems are over yet.

I visited several different PP forums - Technical, OT, and PARF at some point on Saturday and again on Sunday. It wasn't until Sunday that I realized there hadn't been a single new post on any of them since Friday. I knew something was up - or I guess "down" then.

I need a life. I probably checked in five or six times a day to see if it was up.

I am amazed, I checked in on Sunday night, saw I could not log in, figured something was wrong, looked again this afternoon and saw it was working. Made a few posts.

Back off to life....

They're not a revenue stream.

Some of the usual suspects were making even more desperate posts than is their habit.

This happened back in mid November and a short while before that.

Outage on a Fri, and then the forums are "stuck" until Mon.

The thread list doesn't change, but you can post on existing threads and those posts are visible (you just have to visit the thread to realize.

Also, you can't quote any post that occurred after the maintenance, but you can quote older posts.

So, I checked in here and there over the weekend and posted on several threads. I wasn't able to quote any of the posts that occurred after Fri night, but I was able to quote posts that were posted before Fri.

My guess is that someone does some sort of maintenance, or maybe a job runs, and that causes the problem, but the IT folks that can fix it aren't in until Mon morning.

What was unfortunate was this happening the weekend with the Rolex 24, perhaps.

I wasn't glued to the set the entire race but checking in periodically as well as with our thread, which didn't seem very active the entire event.

Next year with Porsche running in the top classification I'm sure it will be a very active thread!

With the average age of most of the guys on this board, I doubt that. We learned what causes babies long ago, and figured out how to prevent that.
