Electricity supplier keeps changing
who knows how many times it has but I know last summer an Oklahoma company became our new supplier and it was definitely more expensive. Just looked at our current bill (no pun intended) now a Houston, TX company is our supplier, and price is down, was expecting $400-$500 bill but it's $383.
Does this happen to anyone else? Why are these supplier contracts bought and sold?

If it's CMS...just keep paying the bill. All will be good.

How is your supplier changing without your knowledge?
Here, we find the supplier that we want, and that's your supplier unless you intentionally change. I think it was a thing here that unscrupulous employees at various suppliers would try to change people without their knowledge to get commission or something. That's a bad thing around here, and there are now steps in place to keep that from happening.

A bit of sarcasm from the PARF thread about the cost of items being up and your examples offering the contrarian view.

I get that Scott but it just seems odd that my rate has gone down. I used my big oven 5 times during this billing period, that should have been about $250 all on it's own. My baseline cost is about $250 per month. When I have a spare moment I will be looking into solar on the roof.

Could it have been an 'estimate'?
If it was...next months will tell.

I have no idea here because I'm on an electric co-op but didn't deregulation make it so your supplier could change multiple times?
Reading about deregulation in MA. this seems really weird. You're supposed to choose your supplier. It's weird that yours is randomly changing.

Electric power "deregulation." In the PNW, here is what that means: The public built the dams, the transmission lines and most of the distribution infrastructure before there were 'private' utilities. And so...."deregulation" is where private companies come in and sell us the electricity we already own. Using the infrastructure we paid for. It is hard for me to understand how a customer can choose between several utilities when the electricity comes from the same source regardless of tho the vendor is.
And I fully expect there will one day be "deregulation" of our public water utilities. Won't that be fun. Private companies selling us something we would die without. Using infrastructure we built.

Probably load aggregation so they can bid more efficiently into the wholesale market. The wholesale energy price in New England has gone up a lot over the past few months. Some companies have gotten out because they don’t want to lose their shirt on selling power at a fixed cost.
