Route 66, interesting history and I love seeing some of the old places I knew as a kid. Those that grew up in Florida probably would recognize many things that are no longer there.

I watched the entirety of Adam-12 not too long ago. I never realized it followed officer Jim Reed's (Kent McCord) from his first day on the job as a rookie to him graduating top his class as a full officer by the last episode. I thought it was pretty cool of them to do this and VERY ahead of its time!

I've been watching old Seinfeld episodes lately. Almost forgot how funny that show was.

Thanks for this post. Fringe is available for free on FreeVee (formerly IMDB TV). I am only up to mid-season 3 so far. It's nice to watch a series that actually has 20+ episode seasons, and Fringe has 5 seasons. Better than the stuff Disney is churning out with only 6 episodes each.

I'm also re-watching Dollhouse on Hulu. It's a Josh Whedon show. The reason I'm watching has little to do with the plot or acting.

I have not seen an episode of Rt-66 since the 1970s. Rt66 does not even get remotely close to Florida. Please explain how those that grew up in Florida would recognize anything. Was the show shot in Florida? I just assumed it was a California based show.

We always laughed when Matt Dillon went after a bad guy from Dodge City, KS and had mountains in the background of Dodge City.

This guy. Really popular trumpet player, actor, director, producer, writer and voice.
I grew up on every show Jack Webb ever made.

I'm watching a few episodes of Emergency every night now. Forgotten how deeply engrained that show got into my brain as a kid. They do a cross-over with Adam-12 in one episode. Made me tear up watching Jonny and Roy jumping out of a CG Helo like rescue swimmers. KMG365 out...-WW

I watched every episode of Dragnet and Adam 12 when they first aired and still watch them to this day. He and Harry Morgan had great chemistry.

Jack Webb had a great stable of actors that he always kept busy. Never mind that they played a bad guy last week, this week they were the good guy or the victim.

Jack Sheldon, Virginia Gregg, Olan Soule, Howard Culver, Peggy Webber, William Boyette, Bert Holland, they were all dependable top notch character actors.

Heck, he even kept his ex Wife Julie London busy along with her new Husband Bobby Troupe (who wrote the song Route 66). He had a formula and it worked.

The original '90s version of Quantum Leap is running again on the SYFY Channel. I always thought that it was an interesting concept for a TV series, but not all the episodes have held up that well.

Lots of love for Magnum, P.I. here, and I liked it too. Yeah, a lot of the early episodes were pretty corny, but the show, and its characters, matured quite a bit in the last few seasons and turned out some pretty good stories.
Although a bit on the lighter side, I liked the episode where Magnum decides to teach an adult ed class in sleuthing and winds up having his class help out on a case.

So, was Higgins really Robin Masters???

Picket Fences was another show from the '90s that I enjoyed. The stories were kind of offbeat, and the ensemble cast and writing were usually pretty good.
Unfortunately, I don't think it's running in syndication anywhere now.

You sir, are the one who generally educates the rest of us, you were probably having fun when those episodes aired.

as I recall the first couple seasons were "meh" - kinda Xfiles like but I liked the actress, so that was tolerable... The last few seasons, though were awesome: the moment they branched into that parallel universe storyline the show took off (for me). Very much like "counterpart" - another great TV show about parallel universes (intersecting in Berlin!). If you have not watched that, it's also worth your time.

I was shopping at our local Walmart a few months ago and saw a woman who resembled Gretchen. Of course I knew it wasn't her but I did speak up and told her this and that she should look her up on the Internet. She was very flattered that I made a point of telling her.

We have a few stations that play the vintage shows including a couple that are all westerns.

Back when I was still working full time - I always made a point of getting home by Noon to watch Rockford Files on one of them, while I ate my lunch.

It was so nice to take a mental vacation.

TV shows like that and so many others mentioned here were so well done with interesting plots and story lines and very well developed characters. The acting was amazing as well.

I still make a point of watching certain shows on days and time slots they come on. Gunsmoke at 1pm weekdays. I think I've seen every one so sometimes I will skip that day's episode. But most of the time I don't mind watching the reruns because it was such a great show.

Ken Curtis shows up in a few episodes not as Festus and is so much fun to watch. Burt Reynolds was great too. There are a few Gunsmoke episodes that I will always treasure more than any other show I've watched just because of how they end. Like the one when Matt takes the lady from the East to see her fiance' in a fort but is killed along the way but manages to save Matt's life in the process. Some of you may know that one.

Overall I feel Star Trek, M*A*S*H, and Miami Vice were the best TV shows ever made.

The Twilight Zone right behind them.

On cable H&I Saturday nights we have these shows air in 2 episode blocks: Black Sheep Squadron, Tour of Duty, Combat, The Rat Patrol, and 12 O'Clock High.

I don't remember anyone mentioning "Tour Of Duty" but it's a great show worth looking into.

Earlier in the day on H&I they air back to back "The Young Riders" about the early days of the Pony Express.

"The Big Valley" was also a great series.
