Don't confuse the actor with the character.

Carroll O'Connor was a bona fide liberal: a strong supporter of civil rights, opponent of the war in Vietnam and a proud champion of labor unions. But his character could be used to attract the more conservative blue-collar support

He was awesome in his role. Here's a favorite classic.

Well that show sounds like it was a real hoot. I'm sorry I missed it.

Seriously, I can tolerate a certain amount of ideological preaching in entertainment as long as the show is....well, entertaining. Sounds like this show was simply Lear running wild with his id.

Dead Honky. :D

Garrett Morris doing the top story for the hearing impaired couldn't be shown today either.

That first video is a real tough one for me. I lost my first wife to cancer in 2002. She passed away at home in our bed. It took a long time for me to go back in our bedroom. I never slept in that bed again after that day. Even my dog would just sit there and stare at her side of the bed.
Very good acting in that scene. The emptiness of the room. All very real.
