Let's compare UBER ratings Just because. Anti-Uber people can compare ratings ELSEWHERE :) You can now see a breakdown of your ratings, so you know if that *one stupid drunk trip* maybe is the one that messed things up. Open the app, click your profile pic in the corner. Settings, "Privacy", "Privacy Center", Then scroll over to "Would you like to see a summary of how you use Uber?" It gives some specs (hours, trips, etc), scroll down to "View my rating" and it will give a breakdown on your scores. To start, I'm 4.96 after 218 trips "196" 5 star, "4" 4 star and "2" 3 star. I can almost imagine one of the 3 star ratings (getting near sunrise after a bachelor party...), but it's a personal affront that 5 other people didn't consider me perfect. Bastards. |

Hey Mike…. Remarkably similar 219 trips 4.94 rating 174 5 star 5. 4 star 3. 3 star 0 1 or 2 star Truth is, for the past few years 3+, I’ve greatLy favored Lyft- the drivers tell me that Lyft treats and pays them better same for same. |

I don't drive for Uber or Lift. I did, however, years ago do IT support for businesses (supported Cisco equipment) which was 99.9% large-ish businesses, government, etc..., not the general public. And for every "ticket" that you solved, an email was sent asking the person that you helped to rank you on a 1-5 scale across several aspects. I remember one particular case where I got a call. The guy described the issue which was well known. I think we spoke for 60-90 seconds, and I was able to provide the guy with the (simple) solution to his issue. My survey results were all 3. I asked the guy what the problem was with his service, why the results weren't 5s. His answer was that the issue was too simple to warrant 5s. I (and pretty much everyone else in the same job) would at times get surveys that were all 1s. In some cases, that was because the person was pissed off (which may have had nothing to do with the support that they received) and gave all 1s (really, the odds of us not being courteous were REALLY slim) or maybe they misunderstood and thought 1s were good (instead of 5s). Trying to keep your rating 4.60 or better wasn't too tough, but an all 1s review would kick your butt. |

I wonder if some low ratings are related to a disappointing tip. That could be the fault of the driver... |

I just wish I knew which rides were the 1 and 2! Its mind boggling, I can't remember ever having what I would call a bad experience. There were more than few rides from San Fran to Redwood City which can be pretty brutal traffic wise. I wonder if getting a driver stuck in bad traffic could sway them. |

Just posted this question in our "chatter" Slack channel at work... see how it goes! |
|
Ok so three younger guys have responded and their ride totals are 400s, and two in the 600s. Its got to be an age thing. I am in my mid 40s, they are in their late 20s. |

I didn't realize that this was a rider rating (and it seemed weird that any or more than a handful of us would have been. I should have realized, but didn't think about it.) 24 trips 4.86 21x 5 star 1x 2 star I forgot to rate my last 2 rides. I've rated every other ride 5 stars. I had one Hispanic young lady with BO that was trying to mask it with perfume. I've had some that were silent and some that were chatty. I can only assume that someone was unhappy with a tip. I think my tips have ranged from $3 up to about $12. My rides have ranged from $5 and change up to $38 and change. |

So, many/most of my drivers have cold hard money in hand before they rate me. |

The way that the drivers app works is that the driver has to rate the passenger upon dropping them off, in order to complete the ride and be able to move on to the next one. A 5-star rating is the default, you need manually override it to input a different rating. It only takes a second but when it’s busy, it’s easier to just end the ride with a 5-star. Everyone gets a 5-star from me unless they are a POS person for one reason or another. I could fill a whole page here with what I’ve observed wrt human nature in a few months of this job. :) |

Years ago, you could assume that the Uber driver would have a clean car, offer you water, all sorts of things. One night, we sat in a full blown all options S-class Mercedes. He drove Friday/Saturday, 8-10 hours a day, and the car was paid for. It was wonderful. The drivers were willing and able to hold long interesting conversations, and liked to talk about the pros and cons of Uber. We had 13 people get picked up at 9:30 at night, in the hippest part of town, on a Saturday, all within about 5 minutes. Once, we were in the Dripping Springs area (an hour West of Austin, 4 hours from Houston). Very hip, very trendy. The driver was from Houston, he would hoof it over the 4 hours to that area and pay for a hotel every weekend, because the market was so good, it was worth it. Now, the cars are falling apart, check engine light on, drivers who don't say a word to you the whole ride...I even had one who didn't speak English. Now, I don't really care, except that was the *one time* that I really needed to communicate with him that we were going off-route to pick someone up. Hell, that might have been one of my bad scores... |

I wasn't necessarily referring to "sins" of riders, just overall human nature. It runs the gamut. And yes, you can drive only on the weekends and pay for any type of car imaginable, if that is your goal. I see plenty of new high-end BMWs and Teslas out at the airport. I'm with you on the lacking quality of a lot of the cars and drivers, I'm still an Uber and Lyft customer as well. I rode in an Uber today that was great, though. Older Japanese gent whose English was limited but he was a prince. Clean, new car as well. I rode in Ubers in San Francisco back when they started and it was all black SUVs only. :) |

I have never used Uber. I will probably start traveling again so i spent some time on the Uber website. I wouldn't mind some user insight. |
