Ohio moves towards civilization

In a new movement of legislative rationality, Ohio has moved further towards having a civilized government.

Ohio Legislature Passes Sweeping Firearm Preemption & Concealed Carry
Legislation

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 29 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Ohioans For Concealed
Carry announced its support today for Ohio Substitute House Bill 347
after the Ohio Senate passed the bill by a 19 to 10 vote and sent it
back to the Ohio House for concurrence.

"Finally after nearly three years of Ohio having a concealed carry
law, license holders will actually be able to carry a firearm
concealed in their motor vehicle," said Jeff Garvas, president of
Ohioans For Concealed Carry. "This will end the justifiable fears
that law-abiding citizens have of being charged with a crime because
a traffic officer decides he didn't like exactly how you were trying
to carry your handgun in plain sight to satisfy the vague law."

Ohio is one of few states that allow its local governments to pass
firearm-related laws. By enacting statewide preemption of those laws,
the State of Ohio shall join the majority of the nation, forty-four
states, where all firearm laws will be created by the state
legislature and remain consistent statewide. Today, an otherwise
law-abiding person can unknowingly drive into a municipality and do
something "illegal" that is otherwise legal in any other part of Ohio.

"Statewide firearm preemption is long overdue. Today's patchwork
quilt of gun laws could change from various misdemeanors with jail
time to "perfectly legal" all in the stretch of a five mile road
between municipalities, " said OFCC Vice President Bryan Torok. "The
unknown legal landmines of owning a firearm are gone. Lawful gun
owners will be able to rest assured that the laws that govern our
possession, transportation and use of firearms shall be based on a
consistent statewide set of laws."

Ohio and has been involved in various litigation efforts to define
the scope of Ohio's concealed carry law. The organization currently

Gun control is a move away from rationality and civilization; repealing or reducing gun control moves towards civilization.

Yeah, but the Governor is planning to Veto it. There is a veto proof majority, but that didn't help in Wisconsin.
