Jeff Higgins Married Up....

....and so will Superman.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Higgins in person several years ago now, and was charmed to say the least. She's a doll. And on April 8 I will marry the woman who was on my arm that day. And I will feel damned lucky. My practice marriage of almost 23 years ended in 2004 and it was devastating to me. After that, my heart was not available. And yet, it has been captured now. I could write you a book about this woman but I won't. I'll just say this: I never dreamed life could be this good. So easy. So interesting, at all times. So secure. So entertaining. So real.

"She" is visiting her daughter across the state who is finishing a pre-med degree, so I am being a bachelor this weekend, doing some projects. Tonight I have to cook for myself and so, it is Chili Dog Night. And so, for those of you who don't want to talk about love, there's "chili dogs." With lots of unions.

^^^ Very nice...our lives are always a story.
Yours is a happy one.

Jeff Higgins 02-26-2022 04:14 PM

Awesome!!! Congratulations. I wish you two all of the best. And, I have to say, my initial impressions are now confirmed - this young lady's sainthood is now beyond question. It takes a very special lady to put up with guys like us. I got lucky enough to have mine find me 38 years ago. I'm so happy to hear yours found you...

Skip Newsom 02-26-2022 04:15 PM

That's all fantastic, happy to hear it!

Congrats, Supe.

I know what it is like to find someone perfect after a failed relationship. Took me a while too.

Cheers!

craigster59 02-26-2022 05:28 PM

Congrats Supe! May you have many fine years and memories together!

She's marrying the bass player huh? Drummer must have already been taken. :)

Yup. That's how it happened. I practically went along kicking and screaming. She was relentless. And perfect. I think they are smarter than we are. Certainly in my case.

Well. You are no Jeff Higgins, not with that attitude.

Heh heh... yup, that's how it happens, at least when it works. We have no idea. We are cavemen. We think we can club 'em over the head, drag 'em home, and live happily ever after. It don't work like that. They do that to us, albeit far more subtly. We never know what hit us. They recognize "it", while we sniff around like dogs.

Gogar 02-26-2022 07:37 PM

It's true Ms Higgins is saintly for putting up with all that yammering.

Good for you Supe.

jcommin 02-27-2022 05:20 AM

congrats - it is not very often we get a second chance, I went thru a similar path in 2010 after 27 years. My heart got hardened until someone walked into my life who softened it.

All the best!

pavulon 02-27-2022 05:58 AM

Going to be 65 and getting married!(?)! Wowzers and Congrats! But no pics of the couple...c'mon!

Just because you found the "one" doesn't mean you can let your figure go. :D

Congrats.

Skip Newsom 02-27-2022 07:27 AM

Thanks Superman!

Congratulations!!
Those are indeed fine, FINE looking chili dogs!

I'm also happy you found the right woman too.

I'm very lucky in that realm, I married and have been entertained/impressed/amazed by my lovely wife for 34 years now.
We can pack a lot of fun into a day, particularly when we travel.

Despite how many times I've found muddy trails for us to explore, got us in into patches of sticker bushes, ended up walking back into the wind/rain and in remote places with no facilitates for miles she still wants to go adventuring with me.

I wish you both a long entertaining life together!!

PorscheGAL 02-28-2022 01:57 AM

Congrats!! I love a happy ending or beginning, as it were. I wish you many years of happiness. We are all expecting pics of the big day in April.

Shaun @ Tru6 02-28-2022 02:51 AM

Congratulations Jim! You definitely deserve it!

Superman 02-28-2022 10:26 AM

Ha! We were chatting about those topics which causes our most vicious fighting, and the following is an exhaustive list of our differences. Bear in mind, we've been shacking up for five years now:

Art Garfunkel - Despite writing and singing Simon & Garfunkel's masterpiece, I say he was mostly a backup singer for Paul Simon.

Ben Affleck - Not a top tier actor, I say.

Horseradish/Wasabi - I happily eat VERY spicy stiff, but the taste of horseradish turns my stomach.

Raw Onion - She won't eat them. I eat them in mass quantities. As you can see in the photo.

Rhubarb/Coconut - This is sort of scraping the bottom of the barrel. She likes these things much more than I. Especially coconut, which I think will ruin an otherwise perfect pastry. I see it as a fragrance for tanning oil.

911 Rod 02-28-2022 11:23 AM

I am super happy for you!
Wait. There are 2 Jeff Higgins?
