New bike day

Picked this up over the weekend. Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor. I put custom pipes on it straight away, sounds great. Plenty of power for zipping through city traffic.

Congrats. I had the modern Hinckley Triumph T100 and loved it’s easy nature. Though I got knocked off it, I never felt it wanted to kill me. I hear similar good things about the RE.

Hottest selling bike in the UK right now. Every review I have watched or read has been just gaga over these bikes. They apparently cannot build them fast enough to meet demand.

Love those bikes. Put on some drop bars and it is perfect looking cafe racer.

(Says the guy with an old V-max)

Lovely bike - very classic-looking.

Here's an older Royal Enfield that my sweetie saw today in Goa:

I had an early 2000s 500cc Bullet at one point. It was a very crude machine. Simple to work on to be sure, but lacking in every department (pretty sure the frame was made out of rubber). The drum brakes were horrible. I mean....it *looked* cool to be sure.

That bike is actually not that old, it just has not been cared for. Probably late 2000s. The disk brakes are the give away....

The V-Max was an industry bombshell back then. Got any pics or a thread on it?

You can get the same bike setup as a cafe racer, the Continental GT. If I ever wanted to got that route, its about $800 for all the parts.

I think the people at Royal Enfield have a nice understanding what a lot of people are looking for in a motorcycle Here is my 2012 Bullet.

Beautiful bike. Only one suggestion...instead of “zipping through traffic” consider using it for low traffic country roads where your only concern is animals. At least they’re not made of steel...and they don’t use cell phones!

Enjoy your new bike!

In your estimation, how would this bike fit a 6’4” 260lb man? Asking for a friend….

Cool retro bike but technology had moved on. I love motorcycles and would own one of those as a local town cruiser for the odd weekend. That said I ride a lot on weekends, 150 miles + and don’t have much room for a bike like that. Now again as as an occasional town bike, yes that works for me. I’m not handsome or cool so maybe not a good choice haha

It’s tough to beat my GS when it comes to chewing up miles but this bike as a commuter and coffee getter seems pretty good.

If you want 6 different riding modes and GPS cool, do that. But that is obviously not what this bike is about. This bike is fuel injected, has ABS and a slipper clutch.

Which is exactly why so many find this bike appealing - perhaps technology has moved too far on. Again, the top selling bike in the UK today.

I'm 6'2" 225lb, I'm very comfortable on the bike. Do I look like a bear riding a tricycle? Not sure, will need to have my better half take a picture of me on it.

Yeah, the seats and some other small details peg it as newer, too. I don't remember details, but RE bikes in India are a bit like the Ambassador, an old British design that was assembled with minimal change for decades.

I don't think it actually is the best selling bike today in the UK but certainly doing well. Interesting to see how well big fat BMW adventure bikes sell - I blame McGregor and Borman. https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/news-and-views/news/2021/december/best-selling-uk-bikes-2021

That's what downtown shop windows are for. You get to see how you look out in the wild.

(Someone took a picture of me on a V-rod at a show once. I might just as well been on a Polaris 3 wheeler.
Dork McDorknuts out on the weekend. )
