Folks who have money to purchase those cars can repair them - no big.

Really, it's the driver who I worry about. Hope he or she is OK.

From the looks of the skid marks, Mr. Diablo was not the only one to have a go at that wall. THat scene looks like Automotus Overblownus meets inexperienced with big ego.

Ha! That's our very own track here in Atlanta. Turn 12 at Road Atlanta has been called the "Widow Maker". Long, high speed, off camber sweeper, with limited visibility. Many have tasted the inside wall.

Still not sure how he screwed up that bad though. Probably can't blame the track for this one.

This may be a little OT, but have Lambo's ever been know to be good/great handling cars? Nothing against this driver or Lambo's but they certainly are cool and can go fast but what is general consensus if they handle well.

All those skidmarks ... it looks like an offramp. I guess it is.

Given that, you'd think they'd remove that concrete barrier and put up a tire wall or something.

No kidding. . .that's what I was thinking.

Then I saw the reason for the use of impenetrable concrete. . .they have to protect the grass on the other side.

I don't understand two things here.

First, how did all those cars (that left those skid marks) lose it in that manner. Looks like there is a left-right "S", and at a point where the line is turning left, the skid marks abruptly make a sharp right and barrel into the wall. Why did that happen? Were the drivers overcooking it in the previous turn so that they entered the "S" totally out of control? I've never seen this track but just can't figure it out from the pics.

Second, why is the wall there, anyway? What is it protecting?

Could he have gotten air coming over the rise and when the car settled back down it was pointing in the wrong direction ???

The way all of those skidmarks veer off so suddenly to the right tell you there have been some serious wrecks there. Hopefully they all made it out OK.

I don't know the track, but to me it looks like the wrong line over the crest plus too much speed resulted in trailing throttle oversteer on the correction (or trail-braking, if the driver really puckered).

Clearly the driver tried to go too fast, too soon on that track and (maybe) in a car he/she didn't know well, yet.

Nice parts car. Wonder if those hood struts fit a Carrera... they look strong if they can hold up that engine lid! And what would this board think of a V12 conversion? 2900 lbs / 500 hp!!

Empty stretcher is a good sign... hope all invovled are OK!

It looks like several drivers ran out of talent.

I hope he's OK. This is what makes me think twice about track time in the Tarantula.

Dave
