I don't know why, but it's the first electric car I'm actually interested in. However, I can't wrap my head around spending more than $25,000 for any car. I only buy used, so I suppose I'll be waiting a while.

Very cool... however the styling does nothing for me. Same goes for Teslas for the most part. But, I would not kick either one out of bed ;-)

No non-competitive clause?

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/07/business/lucid-air-review.html
"As for which company holds the more relevant institutional knowledge, consider Lucid’s founder, Peter Rawlinson: He was the engineering brains behind Tesla’s world-changing Model S."

That seems fitting, since Musk took Tesla Inc away from it's founders by force.

Great "Sales" video... I especially liked the tire blowing moment. Brut unrelenting power!
But let's be honest, how often can you use that sort of power on a public road?

Also no mention of price. I'd bet that would cost more than any Tesla, Cybertruck included.
It would have to be close to EV "S" class money for sure.

However I don't mind the styling at all. They at least tried to make it look different.

Ferrari lives on today. And Lotus. And McClaren. And Lamborghin. And Koenigsegg. And our own mark.
Pavlov bless them all.

But it was the ModelT and Bug that transformed society.

Styling is limited by the wind tunnel and drag objectives. So...another variety of egg. A great marketing piece though, and has me thinking about electric as a fun alternative to ICE. The house we just bought has a charging station...a shame to leave it to atrophy.

The performance is more than impressive but as stated, pretty useless for grocery store trips or golf outings and likely a 6 figure investment. Economy at any price!

Price is about $165K but if you look on Ebay the resale on the few that have sold is closer to $225-250K.

Maybe this will seem weird but that two toned roof of Lucids just bother me.

The power can be used. Although I don't have a Lucid, I do have a lot of power and I put my pedal to the floor every chance I get.

You remind me of the old Porsche Cayenne ad:

Do you really need 500 horsepower to buy diapers?
Have you ever run out of diapers?

Case closed!

This was on Jay Leno. Very nice car.

When I watched the video I had CC on. The drifting at the beginning was "idiot doing donuts in a 1111 hp electric sedan" lol

Do watch Jason Camisa's latest on the hagerty channel ? it's amazing, lucid compared to others... very good like all he does... Clearly it is a great car !

That said, it looks like a big jelly bean with a front slit to me... not something I'd look back on when parking it.

If Musk got rid of Rawlinson, I imagine the non-competitive clause would not be activated.
If Rawlinson quit, that might be another case.

IANAL but in my industry (software) non-competes are difficult to enforce and generally run out after a year in any case, I don't know about the career of this particular guy but seeing as the model S was launched 10 years ago it doesn't seem so crazy that he could be 'the engineering brains behind Tesla’s world-changing Model S" and be free to compete with Tesla.

I agree it would probably look pretty good in black with blackout trim
