HD shenanigans...

I'm trying to 'recover' some space on my old HD. It is no longer used as a primary drive as discussed in another thread.
When I bring up Disk Management it shows there's 10GB in the 'Recovery' space.
The problem is when I click on it, the tools in the tool bar change and I can't seem to enlarge it or shrink it.
What has Windows done to 'protect' this from being used as normal storage space?
Pics show how the tool bar changes depending on what is chosen by the cursor.

I'd appreciate any help here.

Ensure you have a good backup of the drive
Try it from the command line.
Start - Run - cmd
run Diskpart
List disk
Select disk (probably going to be 1)
list partition
select partition (whatever partition number it happens to be)
Delete partition
If that doesn't work, and you're really sure you have the right partition selected, Delete partition override
Repeat as required.
Exit
If you delete stuff you wanted, it's not my fault.
Restore from backup if you screwed up.

Or download and create a gparted live usb drive, boot from that, use gparted. Better

And then you clicked on it?
I'm not judging.

I did too (Well the Harley part, its up to Chocaholic to explain the chaps).

OP - I think you may have to delete the partitions to recover that reserved space. If there is data on the others - this will, of course, remove it. Not sure 10GB is really worth the effort.

One can assume the internet offers an array of images of nice young ladies in nothing but assess chaps. But, I digress....and will not do a search.
