Single DIN radio - anyone use similar ?

My recently purchased 99 C4 is missing the factory radio . I am not an audio expert and normally either listen to local FM or Bluetooth from my phone . I am not interested in a double DIN , to me it takes up too much space and I really don't need it .

Having said that a single DIN that has a small screen that can handle a backup camera is interesting to me . I am not talking about a fold out screen , I am talking about a fixed screen like the one in the link below . Anyone have one similar ? What do you like or dislike ?

Wouldn't the screen size for a camera only be about the size of a half dollar?

Another option for a backing camera might be to add one in the rearview mirror. Not sure they make one for the C4 but might be worth a look. Then put in whatever head unit you want.
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeet... for $72 I might put one in my 85 cab!

Your link didn't post as a link... so I put it here

From the little bit of research I have done they can have a screen 4" wide not sure on the height . That's plenty to make sure something isn't right behind you . The mirrors do the rest .

Thanks Cab . For some reason when I cut/paste from my phone the links aren't " live " . They used to work fine then they don't . The unit in that link has a 4.3 " LCD screen. That's large enough for what I want to do .

I just saw the live link...it says 4.3" LCD. What am I missing? Does the screen slide out and tip down? A single din is not nearly 4.3"

The link doesn't show the screen very well.

I think it's 4.3 " total , so wider than it is tall . I just randomly posted that link as an example . I see popular brands like Sony/Pioneer and lots of others make them also . I think I need to see one in person.

Ahh...I see now. They fit a single din opening...but the screen is the size of a double or larger.
This is an Alpine single din

No that is a different style . Yes it fits single DIN opening but has the double DIN screen. That is different than what I posted ( I think 😁 ) .

The product images look slightly out of proportion. The height looks Single DIN +. Maybe it's a single DIN chassis and the faceplate protrudes some and is taller than true single DIN?

It also does not look like a 100% real product shot, like the screen is photochopped on and may not be exactly what you really get?

I did some looking, seems like it and a few others are actually single din. I found a youtube video where a guy installed a similar unit in an old Jeep Grand Cherokee.

My 996 has a double DIN touch screen courtesy of the PO. Pretty sure it cost about $1,100. It sucks. Can't imagine a single DIN would be any better.

I prefer a round knob for volume and actual buttons to change station. My P38 Range Rover has a single DIN aftermarket, thanks to another PO. The buttons are so small it is hard to change stations. It is way too complicated as well with settings for every thing under the sun.
