I'm tellin' ya. Find a good oil spray shop and have your truck done right. It's not that expensive.

Yeah, that GMC ('70?) is a close match to the '68 Chev dad had back in the day. Big 6, 3 on the tree and heavy duty suspension with 8 bolt wheels. We used to load about 1000quarts of strawberries and head to the stores in town. It was an able beast of burden, but the seats were literally PITA.

One of my former co-workers was a real farmer's daughter. Her dad ran a commercial farm, and had a crew of several farm workers. He would go to the local Ford dealer and order the most striped down cheapest possible farm truck. He would put farm truck tags on them so no road taxes.

He would order them with no heaters, or AC, floormats, or anything that cost a few cents more. He never got a radio, and one year when the radio was not optional, they just came with a AM radio, he paid the dealership to remove it. Finally when the heaters were just built in and not easy to remove he decided they could keep the heaters. He made the farm hands hose out the interiors to keep the floorboards free of inches of mud and dirt. And the truck he drove was the same way.

He would go to the dealership every 6 or 7 years and get new trucks because they all had a tough life on his farm with hired hands driving them. It got to be cheaper to replace them than fix them. He would just park the old ones in a pasture and only sell them to a hired hand for as much as he could get. My co-worker said people often stopped and asked if one of the old trucks was for sale. He was just weird about selling one of them.

My first car, a 66 Chevelle, stickered at $2660
I bought it at 5 years old for $1000

I know two people that just bought Ridgelines. They love'em.

It's unreal !

Back when I started driving, 1982, they were around 10k. :D

Per the online calculator a $10k truck should be $33k today if it followed inflation.
Just think of all the cool features you get now for the additional $66k.

My spring/summer side project is putting my 1978 k 25 plow truck back into regular service as my own little protest to all this madness.

A guy I flew with left the Navy got out and got an advanced degree from USC (Cali) in manufacturing and production. He was a "green field" manager for Toyota: meaning there is a field, then there is a car manufacturing facility.

He told me the absolute easiest and cheapest (in terms of production costs) vehicles are trucks. "Not even close."

Again, I love my Tundra, I am just not going to pay for a new one, or any other 1/2 ton, if I can help it.

Dealer I talked to must not want to make a sale. Forwarding the info to another dealer tomorrow to find out what my A plan price is for the Maverick I spec'd out.

You guys have me thinking about going to talk to the dealership. If I can turn a profit on my 1 year old Silverado 1500 (diesel), I think I might sell it back to them...

Will you ride a bike or walk to get around?

I'd be willing to bet you could turn a profit if you sold it outright. You'd probably break even at the dealer.
One of the things I most regret about this whole pandemic thing is not ordering a new C8 Vette. I could have made some serious bank!!
