When I was a young'n
Ford Rangers were cheap. I priced a Lariat yesterday... A/Z plan was 41K
I took a look at F150's in XLT... 54K. Sweet mother of pearl! My friend bought his 2019 F150 XLT new for around 40K. Man! Those new headlights, front grille and larger screen are expensive!

A '22 Super Duty Identical to mine is 100k.
![]() It's unreal ! Back when I started driving, 1982, they were around 10k.

Obviously, the smart choice would be the Ridgeline for 45K.
![]() My first car, a 66 Chevelle, stickered at $2660 I bought it at 5 years old for $1000

Not a fan. And the Tacoma fuel mileage pretty much cancels it as well. What seems a bit nuts to me is that my Highlander curb weight is close to the curb weight of a Tacoma, but my Highlander has a somewhat significantly better mpg rating than the Taco.

I am hopefully on my last 1/2 ton, a 2015 Tundra I purchased new in late 2014.
I bought the version without all the electronic stuff and then added leather seats and seat heat. Love me some seat heat. It was sub 40k. I put a lot of miles on it early getting a business up and running. It has 134k on it and I have only put around 3k a year on it the last three years. ![]() The Land Cruiser purchase, for 10k, was specifically to take DD miles off the Tundra so the Tundra lasts until we sell the farm. That was three years ago and I am averaging 10k a year on LC. I hope to find a lightly used smaller truck, perhaps a Maverick, when we move to South Carolina.

A buddy has an old mid 1990s F150 step side, he is going to sell. For years around here they were $2,500 for a work truck that sat outside and has wear and tear, but is a solid no rust truck. He was happily stunned when he started pricing whet they sell for now.

I won't need 4x4 in South Carolina so the hybrid is in the mix. I'll be keeping the LC. ![]() A friend of mine in PA took deliver of one a few weeks ago, 4x4. He coming for a visit in a month or so I'll get some seat time.

Barry is like me in terms of being over big trucks. He was a Steeplechase rider and trainer for decades and always had a 1/2 or 3/4 ton. He retired last year and pulled the plug on the bigs. I commuted into DC yesterday, National Harbor, for a meeting and drove the Tundra for the first time in over a month in DC/beltway traffic. Great truck but my whole sight picture was off after so many miles in the LC, which is tiny in comparison. I asked my son and daughter if they want the Tundra in a few years. Not even a nibble.

Any Honda is worth the wait...
![]() C&D had a review of the Rivian Rit pick-up. Throw any weight in the back and the range drops more than half. Otherwise..it's a great truck.

What is even crazier is that my buddy just got a new 2022 F350 Platinum and traded in his 2015 with 75K miles on it and they gave him $53K for it..... Of course the new one was just under $100K. He runs a construction business so he writes them off, but still.
I just put a ball joint, new steering stabilizer and a few other front end goodies on my 2012 with 115K on this clock. No way I am replacing that, going to drive it till the wheels fall off. Heck it is just getting broken in. |

Counterclockwise?

This is why I get my 2016 Tundra rust checked. I doubt a new truck is in my sights.

I know a lot of people in the industry, I'd be happy to talk with him about post USMC options. I do it a lot. Best.
