Forum issues from desktop browser?

I have a few threads I'm following so I check Pelican a couple times a day.

Before this weekend (when the site stopped refreshing with new content for a few days) I stayed logged in for months on end.

Today I've had to login repeatedly, and I'm definitely clicking the "stay logged in" button.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Yea, get used to it. For years I was logged in all the time. Now I have to log in just about every time. That has been going on for months.

What’s the cause? I use my phone 99.99% of the time and always stay logged in.

I've never run into the login problem. No idea why it happens to others. I use Firefox, but I doubf the browser is the issue.

the new site is NOT good.

I cant get the "desktop" view on my phone.
I also don't have the option to goto the latest post on my phone.
every thread opens at post 1

I normally always log off, but from my phone (all I use these days), will stay logged on if I neglect to do so.... fwiw. While on mobile view, I usually have to clear out cookies/cache to switch over to desktop view ... it's been that way forever tho'. I was also bewildered as to why I sometimes went to the first page , and other times to the last page on a long thread... learned something new recently. It depends upon whether my fat finger on my tiny screen was clicking on the thread title (which takes ya to page one), or the last user shown which takes you to the last page. That had bugged me for years too .... operator error and now I know.

I logged onto PP when I got my current phone...two years ago.
I have not had to manually log in since...the phone auto does it.

I stay logged in, unless I clear cache/cookies on my end. Multiple computers. Probably your browser or security settings.

It is something at the forum end. I use Window 11 and Firefox. For the last 12 months or so, I would have to log on every time I came to the forum. And if I was reading a long post, or watching a video, it would log me out for lack of activity. I have tried other browser, and flushed cookies, cache, and done every possible change on my end. Nothing fixed the issue. I just got used to logging in every time.

More than once I typed a reply, hit submit post, and it just said I did not have permission, and to log in. My post vanished into the ether.

Since the recent crash, I am staying logged in. Go figure.

I’m bumping this thread.

Ever since a new Apple iOS update (4/14/2022) PP forces me to log in every time. Prior to the update I could close all my browser windows, open a new one and I would be automatically logged in to PP.

Anyone have any ideas?

EDIT: I found this post in another thread. . . I hope it works.

Then I came across a brief post by PP user JackDidley who in a single sentence solved the problem (at least for my setup) by just making certain that your bookmark for PP begins with HTTPS:// . If you try it, be sure your bookmark address has this in the address bar.
Hope this simple fix works for others and a sincere thanks to PP member JackDidley.

Login state is kept by cookies. Is there a chance some of you are automatically deleting cookies? There are browser settings and plugins that do just that. In all the years I've been on Pelican, I can't recall being logged out exceot by my own actions or browser/computer misbehavior.
