For anyone to say I want out but can't get out is just an excuse. There are literally MILLIONS of examples of people that have come to America with virtually nothing. They didn't even speak English. But they put their nose to the grindstone and made it happen.

Sometimes they worked two or three jobs but they did what they had to do . I realize not everyone can do this , there are limitations to everything. But you have to start somewhere to make a better life for yourself .

Agreed, lots of folks want to do it, but aren't willing to put in the work to actually do it.

There's stuff that I'd have liked to do or wanted to do, but apparently not enough because I probably could have but it would have required more focus and work than I was willing to put in.

Here’s another eye-opener. Grandmother forces four year old to drink whiskey from a bottle. Child dies and has a blood alcohol level of .68. The mother of the child watched. WTF.

A 4-year-old child in Louisiana died on Thursday after her grandmother allegedly forced her to finish off a bottle of whiskey after believing the child could have taken a sip.

The Baton Rouge Police said the mother of China Record, 4, watched her drink the over half-full bottle of whiskey, according to Fox affiliate WGMB.

The 4-year-old girl's blood alcohol level was .680 when police officers arrived at the family's home on Thursday morning.

Roxanne Record, 53, the grandmother, and Kadjah Record, 28, the mother, were charged with first degree murder, according to police.

Her blood alcohol level was more than eight times the legal limit for people aged over 21 to drive, which is .08.

Booking documents for the individuals state that they both became angry after China took a sip from the bottle of Canadian Mist whiskey.

Roxanne said the bottle was "over half full" when she forced China to drink the rest of it on her knees while her mother, Kadjah, was present, according to the documents

Police say that the mother "present and failed to stop" Roxanne "from providing the alcohol," adding that the child was placed in a bathtub and was unresponsive.

Roxanne allegedly said "this went too far," and she "ruined everyone's lives," after she was arrested, according to The Advocate newspaper.

↑↑↑↑↑↑ What's with the extended wheel spikes???

javadog 04-23-2022 07:20 AM

Just another ignorant Automotive fashion trend… What I don’t get is the complete disregard for all the traffic laws and them just blocking the street for whatever purpose.

I saw one of those cars driving down the highway at one time. I truly did not understand the point.

flatbutt 04-23-2022 08:31 AM

Those extenders must cost at least a months rent. Isn't driving with the trunk lid up illegal?

svandamme 04-23-2022 08:36 AM

i don't understand that is even allowed in the US.
I Can get that you can mod your car engine and body wise

we cant in europe homologation anual checks, that sucks

but spikes on the hubs is a dangerous device that defeats all principles of road and pedestrian safety.
regardless of the homologation anual check.. no cop here would let you drive a car like that.

it has nothing to do with driving and in my opinion should be treated as 'brandishing a weapon' in traffic. pure and simple.
cops in the US should at least TRY to deal with it that way.. hell they bend the laws for so many other things.. but this; obvious problem ; they dont even try??

javadog 04-23-2022 08:41 AM

OK, so we all agree that the extended wheel hubs are dangerous and a really stupid idea.

But that wasn’t my point. My point was these morons are weaving in and out of traffic, blowing through an intersection and then closing off a driving lane completely and getting out of their cars.

Why?

Why do they think this sort of bull**** is OK?

It’s like the groups of idiots, some of them numbering in excess of 100 people, that get on dirt bikes and four wheelers and run amok all across a city.

svandamme 04-23-2022 08:46 AM

we get all kinds of weird stuff with Turkish weddings around here.. they all go native for a wedding; have big car groups with rental fancy cars; and block entire highways.. police is trying to crack down on it; but itùs difficult since nobody knows when they will have a wedding.

Here's a better, more direct link rather than having to go through facebook to get to instagram.
https://www.instagram.com/reel/CcRWhLluoRK/

This looks like a "cars and coffee" type event for a particular culture with different style goals.

The video is weird, because usually the point in this particular car culture is to drive really slow so that everyone can see you and your car drive by. THere was obviously something unusual going on with the two numbnuts in the caddies.

Yep, it's a Texas thing, and maybe even mostly Houston area. It's not really any different than the old full size cars in FL with the 24" and up wheels or low riders with hydraulics (everywhere, but really prevalent in Cali and the Hispanic scene, right?) or the draggin'azz pick-up trucks in one of the Carolinas or any number of other silly fads (almost forgot poke and stance for the younger crowd).

I'm sure those wheels cost a fortune. They are probably thousands per wheel. I used to work in a low-income, predominantly black part of Tampa at an auto parts store many years ago. One of the guys that had worked there forever said that he'd once asked a bunch of customers why they spent thousands on their cars and clothes and shoes, but then lived in crap homes that they didn't spend any money on. He was told that when you go out to see and be seen, you don't take your home with you, but your clothes and car do go and that's how you make an impression. I still find that interesting.

I had never heard of it being illegal to drive with the trunk up, and can't imagine anyone getting pulled over for that. And of all of the things that those folks had going on, I think driving with their trunk up would have been the last thing that a cop would be worried about. (it's so "they" can see and hear your stereo and trunk mods, I believe)

The trunks often have some serious mods.

I'm pretty sure that a law has been passed about how far out they can stick.

I assume these guys aren't driving them that much, are mostly in "da hood" where they are probably hassled less than if they were in other areas, and probably have enough money and influence that they aren't worried about a ticket.

Our inspections here are not run by the state. They are performed at oil change places and mechanic shops. I'm sure these guys go to their local mechanic, and he doesn't say a word.

I think when I lived in Virginia in the mid-late 80s, the inspections were done at state owned and run locations, but I think that has changed.

svandamme 04-23-2022 08:57 AM

well yeah; but this has nothing to do with inspections.. go to inspection with normal wheel.. done
easy enough to defeat a non conforming wheel.

But cops can see from a mile away that those things are dangerous to other cars ; cyclists bikers and peds..
you don't need an annual inspection for that

It's no different from having your arm out the window holding a chain or a baseball bat.

I'm sure these guys were in their hood, and the folks in the hood are probably not terribly likely to say anything for fear of repurcussions. And I'm sure that C&C events are irritating to folks that have to be around them.

What you saw in the video was not the norm for this car culture, I don't think. And at the same time, there is a part of this culture that figures "eff everybody else, I'm doing my thing and if they don't like it, eff 'em!" And that's less about the particular car culture than other culture there.

As I mentioned in another post, I used to work in a predominantly black part of Tampa. It was interesting, a lot of the folks that came in, especially the older crowd, we the most polite, down to earth folks you'd ever talk to. There were a small group, mostly younger folks, that were arrogant, ignorant, and extremely rude and obnoxious. So, I'm not saying it's a black thing. It's a culture thing, and that culture is probably a minority of blacks and I'm sure there are similar groups in other ethnicities.

I eventually was transferred to another auto parts store that was in a more affluent area, and more of the folks that came in there (but not all) were rude and obnoxious than in the other area.

javadog 04-23-2022 09:02 AM

Anything that makes your car more than 8 feet wide is illegal. Some of these clearly exceed that dimension. Regardless, given their ****ty driving habits, they are a ****ing bad idea.

If you want to learn more about that automotive culture, go here:

https://www.texanwirewheels.com/houston-slab-culture/

But, again, that wasn’t my point. I was simply referring to people that completely disregard both the laws and common sense and create a hazard to others with their driving behavior. Their antics behind the wheel amount to reckless driving. If I were a cop or a judge, they’d be going straight to jail. And they wouldn’t have a license to drive for a very long time.

Right, but probably not likely to be targeted by cops in the hood. They probably have bigger things to worry about. And these guys don't want to damage their wheels because they are so expensive, so I think they are super careful.

And as a cop, do you want to get shot and killed because you pulled someone over for stupid wheels?

Right, but those two twats are just 2 out of 2000 twats that drive stupid in Houston or any big city. I'm sure you've seen rednecks in big trucks, kids in VWs and Toyotas, old dudes in Porsches, etc..., do plenty of dangerous stupid stuff.

This one is recent.

Wells Dusenbury, South Florida Sun Sentinel
Tue, April 19, 2022, 8:11 PM·4 min read

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Two weeks before a teen was involved in a 151 mph crash that killed six people in West Delray, he was going even faster in his luxury car on Interstate 95 — reaching speeds of 182 mph, authorities say in newly released court documents.

The teen, Noah Galle, posted a video of himself in his BMW M5 driving 182 mph on I-95 earlier in the month before the deadly Jan. 28 crash, according to a sheriff’s criminal probable cause affidavit.

The new court documents portray Galle as a driver who tends to drive more than 100 mph beyond the speed limit and who boasts about it on social media. Galle, who was arrested on April 6, faces six counts of vehicular homicide in the West Delray crash.

During the investigation into the crash, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said it received a tip from a person who had recorded Galle’s videos on Instagram and TikTok in which “he recorded himself driving at an extremely high rate of speed.”

A search warrant for Galle’s Instagram account revealed Galle had filmed himself driving 182 mph on Interstate 95 past the Gateway Beach Boulevard overpass two weeks before the crash, the probable cause affidavit said. Investigators confirmed it was the same BMW driven in the crash due to the dashboard and instrument panel configuration shown in the video.

The affidavit also noted it was the “same vehicle being operated by Galle in additional videos.”

In the same video, Galle posted in the comments section that “the first person to guess the MPH gets 25 cashapp,” referring to the mobile payment service, Cash App.

Following the crash, investigators noted Galle’s Instagram handle was posted on his BMW’s driver and passenger-side rear windows, according to court documents.

A standard 2019 BMW M5 is electronically limited to 155 mph, but the competition model allows the vehicle to reach 189 mph, according to a BMW dealer website. The BMW M5 competition model is priced at just under $111,000.

The sheriff’s report doesn’t specify which type of BMW Galle had.

The Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office officially charged Galle, 18, on Monday with six counts of vehicular homicide in the Jan. 28 crash that killed six workers who were leaving their jobs at Pero Family Farms. Each count is a second-degree felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

Galle, 17 at the time of the crash, was speeding 151 mph in a 2019 BMW M5 on State Road 7 when he smashed into the back of the workers’ Nissan Rogue, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Galle was granted a $300,000 bond on Tuesday. He is set to be arraigned on Apr. 28. Attempts to reach Galle’s attorneys late Tuesday afternoon were unsuccessful.

Prosecutors argued that Galle be required to remain in jail until the trial since he “poses the threat of harm to the community” because of his prior history, but the judge denied the motion, allowing Galle to receive in-house arrest.

State Attorney Dave Aronberg said in a news release they plan on “vigorously prosecuting this case.”

During the Jan. 28 crash, Galle was speeding north in the inside lane on State Road 7 when he ran into the rear of a northbound Nissan driven in the inside lane by Mirlaine Julceus, 44, of West Palm Beach, according to the crash report.

The impact caused the Nissan to rotate clockwise off the road and into the center median, where it flipped and rolled over, landing upside down.

Five people in the Nissan were pronounced dead at the scene, while Julceus was pronounced dead at Delray Medical Center.

Two separate lawsuits have been filed by relatives of the deceased against Galle’s parents, Craig and Helena, alleging the parents are liable for their minor son’s negligent driving, the lawsuit complaints say.

Attorneys Elizabeth Parker and Douglas Duncan represented Noah Galle in court during Tuesday’s bond hearing.

Parker and Duncan previously served on the defense team in the high-profile DUI manslaughter case of Wellington Polo executive John Goodman.
