Matt is stranded in Ft Stockton Texas

It's a long shot but is there a Pelican in the Fort Stockton area that can help my son out? He is Transferring duty stations from Ft Irwin to Ft Sam Houston and his Cayenne power steering pump grenaded. he is towing his 944 on a Uhaul trailer so he can drive his car to his duty station but may need a spot for his Cayenne to rest for a week. Thanks In Advance.

There are a dozen or more RV parks in Ft Stockton.

Considering how West and remote Ft Stockton is I'd be shocked if any of them would turn down a service member who needs a place to park a vehicle for a week.

I'm in Seguin and have room, but it is quite a ways away.

Wow… that is really in the middle of nowhere! I hope it works out!

Thanks Mattdavis, his cayenne has no water pump or alternator since the power steering pulley exited the vehicle. It wont go very far. I will see if there is an RV place close to him.
The local Uhaul is closed, I suggested he rent an F150, ditch the 944 at the uhaul, tow the Cayenne, return the truck and trailer and pick up the 944.

I have good pulleys and bearings for the 944 compressor. I wonder if they match.

The 944 is fine, Cayenne broke down. Problem is, the Cayenne is full of his uniforms and some other personal items that wont all fit in the 944 so he does not want to risk leaving it on the side of the road. otherwise he would just drive the 944 to San Antonio and worry about it later.

I’m going to see if I can measure out a special belt http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1651620626.jpg

Haha hell yeah, you're welcome for the suggestion.

Contact David at (432) 244-7667. He has a heavy equipment repair business in Ft Stockton. If he can’t help he will know what to do or who to go to. Had a truck down for a week in Ft Stockton last year and he got us back on the road.

90 minutes until a solution is provided, amazing.

Not bad for Ft Stockton, check out a map of Texas. It is not exactly the middle of nowhere, but you can see the middle of nowhere from there if you stand on a chair.

Matt is underway again, he was able to get a belt that would bypass the missing power steering pulley. He is headed to a hotel for the night. Thanks all!

That, in Fort Stockton, simply amazes me. Well done, and thank you and your son for your service. Let me know if I can ever be of help.

Yeah, I wasn't sure where it was, so I looked it up. It's about that close to BFE

Thanks everyone. All I have to do now is survive 4 more hours till San Antonio

For any interested parties I used a 5 rib 53 inch belt. It was not double sided because none were avaiable here. The tensioner pulley will spin backwards and one idler pulley will have the smooth side of the belt on it, but it has ridges to keep it on there. The crank, water pump and alternator spin the correct direction.

No power steering or AC but I belive it’ll get me to my new home. Here is a picture of the witchcraft.
