0-60 under 4s in 911sc, and no oil leaks ever

This could be tempting…

The problem is that the e tech will be obsolete or outdated in 5-10 years. I mean you can get something 2x as good for half the price then.

Some of the kits do not require any change to the chassis / body and are therefore reversible. This one looks to be. I could see doing that for fun. But giving up the drivetrain or cutting into the body are a big no!

The kit here looks to be well done. But for a 964? Why are earlier cars in the background. And I was hoping for "finished" pictures and a test drive. The worst thing is the damn shifter. Forward and reverse. Horrible! Haha!

Even an older modified / hot rodded IC classic cars often have obsolete tech, like the 'modern' dashes or the engines deployed and whatever wheels were fashionable in the 90s.

Like "Aigel" mentioned.... I'd only consider this if it was fully reversible and they make that claim in the video. (Ideally without drilling any new holes). In practical terms the biggest problem is cost. It would take decades of driving to break even compared to driving a standard car.

FWIW there's a company in the UK that's converting 80s era Ferrari's = No V12 engine sound!

We have 2 electric cars and we love them. But a retro electric 911 doesn't really do it for me. Kinda like putting a chevy engine in a 911. I like 911s, I like chevy engines, I just don't like chevy engines in a 911.......

I wonder... How does Elon/Tesla feel about these smaller companies using their components?

Looks like a lot of nice design work they did, but still the 911 simply does not have the right space/volume/configuration for that - Heavy batteries up high moves the CG way up. Whereas a Tesla is smartly designed from the ground up with the battery pack damn near on the ground. (great CG)

Good point on the weight distribution. Also, what is the total weight of this heap of batteries? Looks like the Model 3 has a 50 kWh battery (and up) and it weighs over 1k pounds. So this pile will be 1000+ lbs of just batteries. What is the flat six and a tank of gas? And how does the electric motor compare to the Porsche trans? It seems things are heavier here, not just higher up?

Gas is ~6_lb/gallon x 21_gallons = 126_lbs

Yeah, overall the electric will be heavier.

But at least the range sucks. Vid claims 180-ish miles.

I went on my summer trip just recently. 3,650 miles over 10 days. Gas was expensive, but available everywhere.

One of our stops was Valley Forge. Great place to visit. As we arrived I was looking for the perfect Porsche parking spot for no door dings and we drove by a row of 4 charging stations. All 4 had these handy signs on them. My photo only show three so the signs would be readable.

And the parking spaces were prime spots, close to the bathrooms, just opposite of the handicap spots. We were there long enough to check out the restrooms and "rest" a bit and then took the long drive around the site.

Nope, I'll stick with this.

Sight, sound, smell, feel and oil leaks all day every day.

An early 911

This link has a hot rod 911 with a RUF tach in it that approximates.

I found nothing at all that the zero was at six o'clock.

There is no point in returning to old outdated technology just to placate the whims of the wealthy elite. No doubt, something else will supersede existing EV tech in the future.
