what the heck !!!!! I'm in WWAAYYYY over my head!

so the recent thread, "MOTORCYCLES, Lets see em" got me thinking about starting a thread on a LONG build i am going to attempt..... im sure it will be a miserable failure but, what the heck.... im gonna try.

This is a 1976 CB750A.

it has been stretched and lowered a couple of inches and converted into a hardtail. (i just love love love the look it has)

Soooooo last year before COVID hit...... i was looking to start messing around with something i have NOOOOO experience with, none, ziltch, nada, zero!

Motorcycles.

i bought a really cool looking BOBBER project that needs EVERYTHING. it is completely disassembled and bare bones. i have NO IDEA what i got myself into or what to do or where to start... BUT i was looking for that as a starting point..... will read, study and learn, spend sometime in the garage with my boys and mess some sheet up in the process!

Put the motorcycle project on hold during covid and just found a million projects to work on the Pcar during the downtime.

Anyways..... i built a seat for my bike.... came out OK. i designed it, from start to finish..... never ever did anything like this before...... but i enjoyed the process immensely. i bought a leather jacket at a swap meet for 3.00 and used the leather to upholster the seat... used some bolts laying around the garage to accent the seat..... basically used stuff hanging around the garage to make this seat.

now..... i have 99.99 % left to do on the bike.... and i DONT know anything about 99.97% of what i have left to do!

this is gonna be fun!

ya, i thought of that, someone else pointed that out too..... we'll have to see what happens.... im not too worried about that..... i can always either cut them down, or just turn them around... that's if they even cause a problem. we'll see. the foam i used is pretty solid.... barely contracts when i sit down........

this wont be a heavily driven Bobber...... once in a while to a cigar bar or a coffee shop, that's about it. no freeway driving or breaking any speed limits.

im going for a VERY VERY rustic Bobber style.... nothing fancy, nothing shiny or prestine....... i'll try and use as much of the stuff i have around the garage or garage sales for this build...... it will be murdered out flat black.... i think.

Better be standing when you hit that pot hole! I don't think I'd rely on the "rear suspension" under the seat :^)
Cool bobber

thanks Greg.... this is FAR from final design... FAR from it... I'm just wrapping my head around the idea that there is a bike in my garage.........

im sure there is A LOT that is going to be changing and evolving...... the idea will be the same as a DIY Budget Bobber but who knows how many details will be changed throughout the process.....

NON of this is serious bike building... not even close..... this is just lets see what happens.... maybe i get fed up and throw it in the trash! thats how lightly i'm taking this hobby.

going to try and stay as safe as possible, leaving the important stuff to a pro but the small basic stuff on it, im gonna try and do.

The seat has "buns" for your buns. Sort of like a bottom to bottom thing.

Is that the hatch-lid to your dungeon in the background?

If you don't know what an acorn nut is you do have a long way to go.

I know, ER already posted this.

As I recall the A in CB750A stands for automatic. I think it has a 2 speed automatic transmission. Great for a bobber, super naked with no clutch lever or shift pedal

Milt..... agreed... yes. I acknowledge i have a LONG way to go...... im just having fun, as I mentioned not taking any of this too seriously.

Going out and buying acorn nuts would require effort, and since I had a few nuts and bolts that may or may not work sitting 1 foot away from me on the bench, I went with the 1 foot option. If they don't work as I made it, I trash the whole seat and start over.... didn't cost me nuttn.

You know what that seat really needs? A dragon embroidered on it.
