I guess I should have followed up. No masks or vax proof required. But Lufthansa did require a mask on the plane. As soon as the doors shut, it got very lax. I had business class and kept the mask under my chin until I decided to flatten out and sleep, then I wore it around my eyes like a blindfold. No one said a word.
Once in Munich, there were few masks in the airport. Once in Austria, no one wore masks, ditto in CZ Rep. But masks were pretty common when back in Germany (Görlitz, Halle, Köln and Frankfurt). I was in Peru last week and you'd think it was April, 2020. Everyone was wearing masks, outdoors jogging, driving alone, on the beach, you name it. Uneffingreal.

Hey everyone! It's been a while since this post was up but I wanted to add my two cents anyways. Germans take Covid restrictions very seriously, so make sure to bring your negative Covid test results even if you didn't get vaccinated. I've heard that they really check such important documents there, so it's important to stay on top of it. I know that in a lot of places in the US, people are known to ignore Covid signs and do what they want, but unfortunately, that's not something you can do in Germany and still protect each other from covid. Btw, to help with the cost of the trip, you could look at business class flights; they might not cost as much as you think and could be a great help with the economic strain of traveling. Good luck, guys!
