Holy Moly!!!

I have been working on my guest house doing a complete re do. Grandma lived there for 18 years and was a chain smoker. Anyway, my wife said she heard a strange noise coming from the inside of the wall by a dormer. Today I heard it and it almost sounded like a rodent but what do I know . So… I pounded on the wall and…. My hand broke the Sheetrock and exposed a yellow jacket nest…a big one. Out they came flying. I freaked! Tried to run but fell. I recovered and ran out the door with I’m guessing two bees on me. I swatted one but the other got me behind my knee. Now the place is buzzing with hundreds of bees at the windows. I have an exterminator coming Wednesday. $200 jeez I didn’t know I could run that fast!

Wait, you said "bee" a few times, and "yellow jacket" once. Those are two VERY different creatures.

Which was it.

Go up there again...covered completely with clothes, ski mask and goggles.
Bring one of these loaded with Sevin Dust. They will all die with a couple pumps.

My sister moved into a modest place with her husband thirty years ago.

Old fellow had lived there prior and smoked like a chimney until he passed away. Simple light fixtures like the picture below were coated in brown tar and the tar literally dripped off of the light when the bulbs got hot.

Kilz. Coat after coat. Took four just to paint the walls.

Two words. Hard work! I feel Bugsinrug's pain.

10 gallons of Zinzer. Cabinets and flooring taken to the dump. I am almost finished. I was installing drawer handle today when I heard that weird noise. I had no idea that they would destroy the Sheetrock. Just tapping it with my hand broke it and released The Kraken!

Although I feel sheepish saying this and hoping that you're not allergic: Man I wish your initial encounter had been videoed. I had a similar encounter in the woods and was chased all the way back to my truck. I fell more than once!!

I wish it was on video too! Total panic!! Luckily I didn’t have far to go to get out the door that I slammed shut behind me. Went running down the steps waving my hands around my head. Knocked one of my hearing aids out of my ear. Took my 45 minutes crawling around before I found it.

Pull out your 9mm pistol and go to town on them. Blows their lungs right out.

Did they use the gypsum in the drywall for the nest somehow? If it was a Honey bee nest, I would say be honey softened the walls.

My bee story. My coworker and I were scouting a lot to build a house on and I found a big tree with hollow area at the base. I bent down, put my hands on my knees and before I could say, that’s a great place for bees, my coworker said a black cloud of yellow jackets poured up out of the ground and covered me up.

Before I could get away, they were stinging me. I probably fell two or three times in the first 25 feet. I think I was stung 18 times altogether.

My buddy was 5 feet from me when it happened and did not get stung.

The funny part was there was a guy standing outside his dump truck and when he saw what was going on, he jumped in the truck and closed the door. Thanks for the help guy!😂

My beioghbor found a yellow jacket nest in ther ground on his property. He took his garage vacuum, connected it to an extension cord, took it over to the nest, turned it on, stuck the hose in the hole and ran. He left it on for an hour or two, and sucked almost oll of therm into the vacuum. He sprayed insecicide into the hose and left it unti the next day. They were all dead the next morning.

They were yellow jackets and yes, the use the gypsum and insulation to build the nest. I got stung once in the back of my knee. My knee is still swollen. I was here all alone as my wife is in France so multiple stings might have been serious. I consider myself very lucky!!

For yellow jacket nests in the ground, locate the entrance and wait until just before dark. A few ounces (3-4) of gasoline in a plastic bottle and just turn it upside down and stick it in the hole. Beware of "lookouts", and sneak up on the hole.... just because .

The fumes get them all...

Pick up yer plastic bottle the next morning .

We've got some drywall out in the garage waiting until we get someone to come haul off a bunch of junk from renovations. A bunch of the mud daubers in the garage are using the drywall to build their nurseries.

Yeah, I was surprised when you said your hand went through the wall and you ran and only got hit once. That was good fortune for sure.

I'm sure that was fun, but I wouldn't have wanted to be too close. I'm sure it killed a bunch and stunned a bunch more, but I'd be concerned about the ones that were just pissed off.
