As a high mileage survivor, it's actually rarer than a low mileage car.

Everywhere I look, I see the same phenomenon. According to the saying: "80% of salesmen are selling 20% of the product. The remaining 80% of product is being sold by 20% of salesmen."

There is a small group of people who are getting the majority of stuff done. They seek each other out and form a network. They answer questions. They ask questions. They do what they say they will do. They are 100% reliable and they are good communicators.

And they form maybe 10% of the population. Certainly no more than 10%, and I am probably being quite generous. The rest....the remaining 90+%...are pretty much useless. Technology has helped the small group get things done, and has helped the large group to avoid doing things.

I like either one of those. New timing belt and water pump, that little CRX will out live you

That thing lives in Massachusetts? Did it move there from Aridzona or something? Looks garage kept and loved. Quantos dineros?

I put a car ad in craigslist recently.
a few hours after posting the ad I got a text
asking if the car was still available
I replied yes, and that was it

several days later, another text from the same number
asking for the TVR
what's a TVR?

within two seconds I got a lengthy reply that was
too fast to be real, had to be a bot
it directed me to a website that was similar to a
carfax deal where you PAY
to get a title report for your vehicle
no thanks.

most of the real calls I got were from car dealers wanting
to low-ball and flip the vehicle

As a tribute to the thread title, went and looked at another Scirocco owner asking $20K. Supposed to have new paint, all redone, perfect.

Used cheap paint that was chipped down to rusted bare metal here and there.
Steering joints were bad resulting in clunking
The kicker, it barely ran. It had sat for a 7 years and he didn't bother to clean the fuel system out and put fresh gas in it

I'm sure there was more if I looked. And decided I'd rather a CRX Si or Prelude Si.

What a nut job.
LMAO, any normal seller would tell you to pound sand.

i just tried dealing on a Vespa - for the wife.
it's a bit of a distance - 1 ferry ride away. i offered to pay full price - with an immediate money transfer.
he refused - told me it was first come, first served ...... "i gotta move it, if no one buys it in the next few weeks i might lower the price".
