Dow
Dow down a few thousand. Gas is $6.43 in San Diego. Inflation is the highest in 40 years. Home selling has come to a complete stop. Food at the market is the highest I have ever seen. Many say regular gas will be at $7.00 plus by the end of summer. I think all Hell is about to happen! Regular middle class are putting thousands on their credit cards just to go to work. Do you think depression?

Not sure what to think but I have been thinking about this for about three years now. Finally this will hit us hard. 7 bucks is already here. I fill up my 4 runner earlier this week, 145 bucks. My diesel truck over 150 couple weeks ago. file:///Users/jeffmaryfong/Downloads/IMG_2131.JPG

Policy may save us from this one? Fuel price may come back down if we start producing again. Open up the ports and let the goods flow instead of fooking around with environmental regs. Layoffs has begin due to lack of supplies

Incredible difference compared to where we were less than 2 years ago. Oh yeah...another billion on its way to support someone else’s war.
Progress.

I don't know where the OP is from but home selling around here most definitely has not come to a stop. A house down the road from me was under contract twenty minutes after it was listed. Three homes my parents have looked at ($350K range) were under contract in less than 7 days. I don't see interest rates affecting sales if the buyers are well qualified. The jump in mortgage rates hasn't been enough to really do that much IMO.
No I don't believe there will be a depression. I do believe we're in for an extremely severe recession. But we've already shown the willingness to reduce the hurt in 2008/2009 and in 2020 so there's no going back from that. The can will once again be kicked and the bandaid that keeps falling off will once again be reapplied. The real question is, how long before this thread gets moved? Not that it's political... but that it will rapidly become political.

Homes haven't stopped here either. House down the street just sold in hours for double what the owner bought it for in 2019. Another sold same day for $100K over asking price.
Houses here sell for ridiculous prices now because people are fleeing Chicago to come to Michigan to enjoy the MI taxes. You wouldn't believe the number of lake homes that are being sold, torn down and new 'modern' homes taking over. Many of the lots are being split as well so houses are piled on top of each other. You can literally reach out the window and shake hands with your neighbor from their bedroom. All for over $1MM. Not my cup of tea but to each their own. |

Sooner or later an administration will have to make an agenda to start balancing the books . The last five including the current just keep racking up debt . It's not politically popular but it needs to be done . When you are cash rich a lot of problems go away .
When you are in debt you are at the mercy of who you owe money to . Many households run an effective budget so it can be done . We are going through an adjustment or recession . Some pain will be felt , more debt will be kicked down the road and the happy dance will ensue . Until the next time . Rinse and repeat ☹️ |

Buy that dip too then! Dollar cost averaging man! At some point it'll bottom out and you'll look like a genius. Or you'll have long since run out of money.
