S&H Green Stamps
Just finished an e-book on my Kindle about a true murder in the early 1900's. Along with describing the daily life in Pennsylvania...there was frequent mention of the S&H Green Stamps.
Wives would treat them like gold. I remember my Mother having books that she was pasting these stamps in for redemption. She knew exactly how many more she needed for her next redemption. This was in the early 50's. "Launched in 1896, Sperry & Hutchinson's green stamp program is still around." 127 years is not a bad run. Anyone still collect them?

I remember my grandmother saving them in the mid 70s when I was a little guy. I often got to paste the stamps into the books which made my day!

^^^ According to the search I did...they are still going strong, only in digital form now.
"Today, the S&H Company has completely digitized their entire redemption catalog. You can redeem green points through their ideabook system online. Yet, that leaves the millions of unused stamps in limbo. For a time, there was a third party company that brokered stamps-for-cash transactions but it shut down in 2001. However, there's hope on the horizon. On their website, S&H states that they have future plans for how people are going to be able to redeem their old stamps and to hold onto them, and you can sign up for an account on their website to get any updates on the matter."

My mom did the Green Stamp thing in the 50s & 60s. I dont think it was a thing in the small town we moved to in 70 .
Reminds me of my ex collecting Marlboro miles in the 90s. I still have the tee shirt and chili mugs she got me.

Now...to see if my Epson will print off a good copy of your green stamps and then I'll copy off a hundred copies.

The book also mentions the 'Tea Man' that would make the rounds in the early 1900's selling household goods. Wives would be anxious because he would give and redeem green stamps.
He made the rounds with a horse pulled carriage.

The service station where I worked at the age of 15/16 gave S&H Green Stamps. Mondays was the slowest day of the week, so the owner decided to offer double stamps on that day. It wasn't long until Mondays were as busy or busier than the rest.

I remembered the yellow stamps but could not come up with the name. They had them in Chicago too but I dont think they were as big as Green Stamps.

The redemption part of the Green Stamps was not bad....credible housewares for a fair rate.
Almost at the level of Pepsi points for a Harrier Jet.

The gas station I used gave Green Stamps. Mom was always happy to get them.

Blue Chip stamps were the big thing in the '60s. I remember they had a good sized store where you could redeem your books of stamps. Green stamps were around, but less common.
Kind of an early version of reward cards.

It's hard to imagine that they started in 1896.
