Early am biking and wildlife

Just back from a 16 mile ride. I always leave around 7:30 am and have only missed one day since the first of June.
Today, I saw over a dozen deer in four diff places. The cars are few at that time...I might have seen around 6 in the whole trip. (being Sunday morning helps)

At one section of the road, there was a doe and her new fawn standing right in my lane.
I started coasting and got about 40 feet close to them when the doe took a couple bounds and was gone. The fawn never noticed me and I started braking because I was now within 10 feet or so. The fawn saw me then and panicked. Her hoofs wouldn't get any traction on the asphalt and her legs went in four different directions.
It took her two more tries before she stayed upright and then followed her mother.

Along with deer...rabbits and squirrels love the mornings also...they are everywhere.

I'm not an early riser, but your ride and the wildlife would be a great reason to be out.

If I leave early, shorts and a t-shirt is perfect. Lately, the heat is on by 10 am.
Plus the sun is up at 6am here.

A neighbor who rides around here most mornings around daybreak says he sees a lot of coyotes. The deer are a bit of a problem around here (accidents, eating everybody’s plants, etc.). Consequently they cull them every so often…might need to do that with coyotes!

I was visiting my sister several years ago and rode my bike onto the ferry. She lives on one of the more remote islands in the San Juan's. I had an early ferry at the end of the trip and her husband said "be careful of the deer". He rode his bike everywhere on the island. Sure enough, up at 4am and about a 10 mile ride to the boat. Headlights on. One on the bike, one on the helmet. Eyes reflecting back at me everywhere from the side of the road. It was super creepy. Luckily they were snuggled in and nobody was jumping across the road.

A few weeks ago on my early morning bike ride I passed two juvenile bald eagles. The fence boards are 6 inches wide for scale. There are a few nesting pair across the river at Brazos Bend State Park.

And they did nothing to lower the numbers again.
Almost every morning they are in my yard. They are almost tame.

I think the bear ate Fred and Wilma. He looked angry.

About the only thing I didn't see was a bear. Everything else was out in full force.
Lousy pic of an eagle me thinks.

Deer everywhere. Also rabbits, chipmunks, and Red Newts. Hard not to run into/over all four.

Sure, unless Betty's in the room; then Wilma's invisible.

We have nothing like that unless we go up into the mts, 20-30 min drive. What we do have are a bunch of azz hold drivers

My early morning walk/jogs will begin anew after my the right hip gets replaced (seven years after the left) in August.

So much wildlife here:

When I drive out near dawn or dusk, I always slow in the wooded parts of the four mile drive to the main road, especially in rut season

I like the early morning bird sounds. They are so happy at that hour.

^^^ I saw a lol of sand hill cranes also this morning.
They move up the farmers row of corn and pull the young plants and eat them....easy pickins!

There are more acres of corn grown in my county than not.
