Bill, don't worry about it..... and the Cap'n shouldn't either imo. Sometimes things get taken wrong on these forums and it's no biggie imo.
Both of you guys are "good guys".... I rarely talk to one of my best friends of nearly 40 years without one of us asking the other... "Has anyone ever told you that you're full of chit ![]() And we just laugh ... been going on for two decades... at least. |

I know this is probably pale in comparison, but where I live, this is what I can get. They are darn tasty!
![]() Many years ago, we used to go to a "farmer's market" put on by a little health food store. There was a couple from 2 different countries in the UK, and they used to bring 4-5 different kinds of pasties. They usually had beef and stout as one of the flavors. Those were also most excellent! I used to work in a bar. I started by "bar-backing" which meant that I was the gopher and grunt for the bartenders (and when they were chatting with folks, I bartended too). I used to carry 3 cases of beer at a time to stock the coolers. I usually didn't carry 4 because most of the boxes couldn't handle that much weight and that's a tall stack of boxes. Corona comes in the sturdiest boxes and bottles. We used to have a problem with Budweiser bottles breaking, and when they did, the bottles would be lopsided, with one thick side and one really thin side.

The flip side of all the things we did without help:
One of my BILs worked on a home heating oil delivery truck for decades. He often complained about back pain, but kept going. Last week he was off with the flu and without the constant support of the muscle groups in his back was soon in excruciating pain. Years of dragging that hose from truck to house without considering what the consequences might be. Most of us have been guilty of it to some degree. Best Les

I like my wife's chicken pot pie, but the Marie Calendar stuff doesn't do it for me. My wife on the other hand, does like the Marie Calendar stuff.

You know, now that I think about it, I was a pretty soft young man. I did not really toughen up till maybe 19, 20 ish.
I was overweight, and lazy . Not very physical , and did not have a lot of self confidence in my abilities . I always knew , deep down inside there was a bad ass waiting to break out though . I took a job at a transmission shop , that had no lifts . That made a man out of me in 6 months. I was tough as nails when I left that place , and just kept kicking down doors after that . I just needed some mentors to show me the way . My first couple of days ,were an eye opener Now I want pot pie .

The chicken or beef MC is the best...esp in the one pound size. (as pictured) The Trader Joes pies look good...but the closest one is an hour away from me.

Exactly. I had a boss when I was in my twenties and he was about 75. He had a saying "Life is like dodgeball, keep moving and you wont get hit. Good advice, has worked ever since.

basically bullied a kid into doing something that he was not comfortable with.
the employee admitting to his limitation - for whatever reason? - that should have been sufficient. |
