It's gotta be something more powerful than testosterone that establishes that Isle of Man mentality.

No thanks. I'm chicken.

I have hit slightly under 60 mph on a downhill run on MA 23, just outside Great Barrington. I was ~24 at the time. After noting the speed on my Cateye, I then low level freaked out on how to slow down without popping the tubes. I got out of the drops and made myself big and caught some drag.

More recently, there was a hill on Day 2 of the Houston-Austin MS150 on FM 153 east of Buescher State Park. 45+ was no problem. That is far more reasonable....

Nuts. That reminds me of the time I was dumb enough to attempt something similar in a go cart, towed behind a friend’s mom’s Ford LTD…

I hit exactly 100 kph (62 mph) while passing a truck on Col de Galibier in France. It still scares me to think about it. Won't do that again. But I didn't know how fast I was going until the German guy I was riding with told me afterwards. He was stoked.

I have a buddy that attached a jet engine to a bicycle...

There is a youtube video somewhere. Not nearly as exciting as it sounds.

Wow, my fastest on a bike was around 50mph downhill and that was plenty exhilarating. 160 mph is insane.

Tire technology alone had to be something. Yes, young and dumb...and very skilled.

Seems like a stupid record to me. "I am the fastest guy to be towed behind a motorcycle on a bicycle". I love the low tech rope wrapped around the handlebar. No words on bike prep, i.e. tires and the freewheel (must have been removed ...)

Funny that the towing Honda had to take off like 'a bat out of hell'!
(I wonder if that was agreed to beforehand)

That would have to be one of the riskiest things I've ever seen.

Crazy indeed!
