Crazy...there is so much money in college football to waste.
Next up will be some college in France. An Airbus 380 might hold the whole team, managers, and cheerleaders.

BIG $$$ has destroyed what conferences used to be imo... natural rivalries.
I could name all 57 states before I could list the teams in the ACC or SEC these days ![]() |

The traveling time and expenses are going to be unreal.
Just shows how much money Universities have. Millions are nothing to them. Tuition might go up...along with our cable bills.

Personally, I'd like to see Ole Miss kicked out of the SEC to bring Georgia Tech back to the SEC, and a trade of Missouri for Clemson would be just dandy.

^^^ All in the same geo area...why not?
With this new move...Rutgers (on the east coast) will have to travel to the west coast for a couple in-season games...crazy.

^^Yes and and the conference’s will be so big that they’ll have to divide them into divisions like the AFC and NFC in the NFL. So, college football will be the Big Ten and SEC. The conference’s will be divided into divisions. The former PAC 12 will be the BIG TEN West and the teams will be the old PAC 12. BIG TEN North the original BIG TEN. The SEC will also, be split into divisions the same way.
How else, will it work? The 2 conference’s will be too big. D |

This is interesting. Rutgers is closer to Iceland than it is to the Rose Bowl.

The BAC will dominate soon enough... I think they should limit themselves to no more than 100 teams though... 101 is just too damn many!
BAC .... Big Azz Conference |

I think it is great.
The NCAA, like the PGA, has no one to blame but themselves for the current reshuffling: They have both been resistant to change and tone-deaf for a long time...fiddlers in the dance band on the big T. I grew up on the Pac 8 and Pac 10 but those days are over: I haven't seen a non-bowl game with a two Pac 12 schools playing in 10 years. The Pac 12 has become irrelevant. I wish it wasn't so. College football is largely a regional sport now dominated by the SEC and other notable Southern and Northern tier schools: TV rating have been in decline for years. Watching PAC 12 highlights on SC is crazy: The stands are 1/2 full at times. Georgia playing Tennessee Chattanooga in September is not exactly must see TV. I also read that USC gets 30 Million a year now for TV broadcast rights - they stand to make 100 Million in a few years and will be seen on TV. BTW, the old Bowl Game structure and mythical national championship was a wrist corsage at the prom: You had to get one but no one remembers why and it was trashed and forgotten in a day.

Notre Dame was one of the first to just say screw the conferences, we are special, and we will make our our contracts for TV coverage. For years, they were on TV every stinking weekend, and the local teams were on pay per view or had no coverage at all. Notre Dame became a hated team in many parts of the country as no one cared about them and they wanted to see a local school play.
Then other teams decided to try to go off with their own deals. It is all a chase for more money for the schools. No real fan wants to see a big powerhouse team play some team that has no real chance to win. The tiny teams just take the loss and huge paycheck, and the dream of a possible rare upset. I gave up watching football when I finally figured out the only thing the schools care about is the money. The education of the players is totally ignored. If someone can run really fast and catch a ball, they can graduate and be illiterate. No one should be allowed to play if they can't maintain a C average. It is college, not a farm team. But I don't ever expect to see a change as the money just gets to be more and more. I will not watch pro ball until the start arresting the violent criminals they have now.

Glen I still watch college football.... 'cause I like to watch college football (and the NFL too)... but I've never really had a "team" or a conference .... and usually pull for the undercat too.
Except those dang Gators.... I just don't like 'em! Don't tell Baz ![]() |

Football, sports in general, is an entertainment show, the best reality show extant, nothing more, nothing less...the rating for pro football have grown because by week 5 there is a sense of drama and story lines.
Conversely, MLB, Basketball (college and pros) and college football are largely irrelevant for over 1/2 their seasons. I have not watched an entire college or pro basketball game in 15 years. Why would you? MLB? I love baseball but aside from the Giants in the play-offs, you can't make me watch four hours of "launch angles", defensive shifts and batters and pitches with more quirks than a Faulkner novel: MLB is an unwatchable product. College football is a remarkable entertainment product poorly managed...it appears that is changing. NIL is a driving force and I like it. Lastly, as I have written here before, athletic scholarships are bravo sierra and the NCAA completely gooned the process.

This doesn't bode well for alumni weekends, the travel & logistics just got more complex.
But then again seeing USC playing Alabama would be epic. Football @ Stanford & Cal might go away though? |
