When I was a little boy I ate more and more and more mushrooms fried in butter. Then it became a battle between the mushrooms seeking liberation and my arse. The mushrooms won :(

Morel mushrooms lightly fried in butter are incredibly good eating.

Fresh porcini are the best, if you can find them. That generally means a trip to Italy but you can sometimes find a cousin up in the Pacific Northwest, sometimes.

People that find them...will normally never tell where they did.
If you over-hunt any area...they won't come back. A seasoned morel hunter will always pick them in an onion bag...so the spores are not wasted. |
