Who has been MTB in Moab?
Heading out to Utah in September and will be in Moab for two days do some mountain bike riding… I’ve been looking at trail maps and such, it’s pretty overwhelming as there’s literally hundreds and hundreds of trails… Anybody have any Intel?…

You owe us a Snowshoe / WV rafting update first!

My riding buds go every year, but I don't like high cliffs. BKXC and many other have videos of most of the popular trails that can give you an idea of what to expect. I have ridden CO. trails but never ridden in Moab. Bring plenty of water....
Be sure to stop in Arkansas and try some of our trails if you are passing through on your way to Utah.

My bud who goes every year said Navaho Rock, and Dead Horse Point were top of the list... They are rated as Blue.

Last April my wife and I camped and rode at Klondike Bluffs outside of Moab. Great riding and camping. We planned on staying there for 2 days but ended up being 6. And there are some cool dino tracks by the trailhead. Have fun!!!

Last time I rode Moab was in 1991. Lol. I’m sure there’s a million more trails now. Make sure you hydrate!

It would help to know your skill and fitness levels.
Slickrock trail is the classic bucket list trail in Moab. It's not especially technical but it can get very hot - seen a number of people bonk or get heat stroke on it. Porcupine rim is another classic, but more technical. I had a trip scheduled for the 4th of July and was excited to ride "The Whole Enchilada," but caught covid and had to cancel ![]() I like mtbproject.com for trail maps. They have a decent Iphone app as well. https://www.mtbproject.com/directory/8010576/moab

If you're a real badass, look up the Portal trail.

I first rode Slickrock in 1992. Went back in 2016- whoa! Major development in both trail system and the town.
Definitely try the Whole Enchilada (book a shuttle to the top). Another unique experience we did was the Slickrock practice loop at night, with lights. I wouldn't venture out on the main loop in the dark though, but riding the sandstone at night was really memorable. You could start earlier and ride the main loop, return around dark, then do the practice loop with lights. I'd also suggest a mountaineering tour, with some good rappelling. Hanging off an arch 100' off the floor was pretty exhilarating too. Have fun! PS- anyone going to UCI at Snowshoe this weekend? I'll be there!

Thanks all.. we are both high intermediate riders and her fitness level is better than mine.. lol. I HATE climbs! She can out climb me easily but I rip past her in the downhill/ technical sections.. We ride blue trails a few times a month and neither one of us like hard technical or black trails or jumps etc.. if I wanna get crazy like that, I’ll ride my KTM!
We only have two days to ride there and as of right now, we are thinking about doing Dead Horse Park the morning of the first day as a warm-up, and it supposedly has the best views of Canyonlands and then catch Horsethief and on second day, The Brands and Klondike. I’m going to look more into the whole enchilada trail system as I’ve heard a lot of people talk about that and maybe make a change.

Wrapping up my sabbatical year and one thing that was on my wish list was to ride Moab.
Covid found a way to prevent that from happening so now I guess I need to wait a few more years to be able to get there in the spring or the fall. Post some photos of your trip, please.

Did a little research on the Whole Enchilada.. The description itself scared my GF away as they say it has a LOT of black diamond expert sections with 14% grades with loose rocky/gravel terrain..!
