Glad I got to see Clemson win 2 NC's before this current ***** show of boosters casually buying HS and portal players. The NCAA is a joke at the moment. Players should share in the revenue, but this wild west format is unbelievably bad for college sports and college educations. It is out of control and unless it is seriously changed, it will lead to the end of college football as we know it.

I turned on my TV last week and it was on ESPN or something, a day after the Jimbo - Saban dust up. Paul Feinbaum was on and he said something like... college football is in a really bad place now. He usually shoots straight. They were discussing what Dion Sanders said and how it was a signal to boosters to get out their checkbooks.

They better get a handle on this quick or it is going to get out of hand.

IMHO....possible solutions.

1. Put a cap on NIL per program

2. Restrict portal transfers to a 1 month period - after Spring practice but before the season starts

Given how inept the NCAA is - I'm not optimistic this ends well.

There is talk of some conferences leaving the NCAA and starting their own governing body.

Like many things in our society - just be grateful you were around in the good old days before money corrupted the integrity of the game.

You are spot on Baz.

I would also add that if a team finishes in top 10, or certainly if they win the national championship, then they shouldn't be able to get pick of the litter from the portal (if they even get to obtain players from the portal at all).

Before last season, Tennessee lost its best player, an LB, dude ended up starting at Bama.

I said to my wife this weekend that the way this is all going, there will be open transfers in the portal DURING the season before we know it.

And we can just drop the charade of "student"-athlete.
