That tiffany dial nautilus is so expensive because it was basically only given to celebrities.

Can you imagine paying 2.7 million for a watch that "retails" at 50,000 and sells for 80,000 in another color, and probably costs 5000 to make. Its a big ol' goofy world.

sc_rufctr 06-27-2023 08:33 PM

Goofy marketing video but he goes through the whole range of Seamasters with some good close up shots.

So, it's pronounced "Oh-me-gah"?

Is the crypto watch bubble still going strong?

Have no idea...haven't been shopping. My $200 quartz Hamilton field watch (Khaki King) bought back in 2001 is on (I think) it's 4th battery & still ticking along accurately.

Those "Oh-Mee-Gahs" are indeed beautiful...but not for me. I do have a dress watch I can wear...think it's 1950's...a gold Lord Elgin. Definitely NOT water resistant. ;)

This is a fun watch but I think they want $4k.

Kermit shows up on the first of the month.

I might be done with mechanical watches. I work out doors and doing handyman jobs enough to not want to wear one of my nice watches so I'm going to pick up something digital and disposable.

sc_rufctr 06-29-2023 12:44 AM

Cool watch Otto but... "The complete set of "Omega Seamaster 75th Anniversary Collection".

- Note the blue face gets darker as their depth rating goes deeper. Rather cool!

There is only one Omega I like and thats this one

https://th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.PGAPYR...id=ImgDet&rs=1

I just don't get Omega that much. Their styling is all over the place. I haven't bought a watch in six years. I don't know when I'll buy another one unless its a G-Shock. Maybe if I want to splurge I'll go for a Suunto.

I still have my Suunto Favor for my diving computer. Its more then 20 years old and still working as far as I know. Its in my dive bag so I haven't look at it in a while.

This is a cool and fun watch. Swiss made for not a lot of money. :)

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1694076129.jpg

aschen 09-07-2023 07:48 AM

I think its a little ridiculous on the swatch groups part, but I guess the temptation was too great after the moonswatch success.

Can't wait for the plastic er bioceramic Breguet Tourbillion. All in good fun I suppose for an industry that has taken itself too seriously for a while.

sc_rufctr 09-07-2023 12:20 PM

Yes ridiculous but there are dedicated factories in China that only produce Swiss knock off watches & The CCP has done nothing to shut them down. I'm guessing but maybe the Swatch group decided to present an alternative?

BTW: A used Blancpain 50 Fathoms is worth around $20k!

This is the 70th anniversary version. Rather nice but you'd be walking around with the equivalent of a really good used car on your wrist.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1694117575.jpg

aschen 09-07-2023 12:34 PM

you can get a pretty nice preowned modern Fifty Fathoms for less than 8k, alot of monies but cheaper than that second place famous dive watch that is so common

I personally don't love the looks on most of them, but first rotating bezel dive watch is quite the accolade

sc_rufctr 09-07-2023 12:37 PM

You can also buy a used car that starts every morning for less than 8k... Just sayin ;)

An interesting review of the plastic watch.

Got my kid a Flik Flak Darth Vader watch a few years ago. The darn thing has doubled value. Odd for a kids watch.

All those brands under the same umbrella...sort of reminds me of the old GM.. Makes me wonder how many use the same movements..

sc_rufctr 09-26-2023 01:29 PM

This is cool and it's "reasonable money".

"Hamilton Khaki Expedition - affordable BlackBay?"

Hamilton Khaki face designs are classics...very easy to read at a glance. I prefer a watch that has a day and date complication...thus, my selection of a Hamilton "khaki king". Definitely not anything close to a status watch. Sort of like an old Craftsman USA made tool...it performs it's designed function well without drama.

Saw a Patek in the flesh today. Aquanaut Travel in blue. Was talking with some other shooters at a tournament and my buddy noticed it and asked about it. Dude just popped it off his wrist and handed it to my bud.

The amount of $$ i'd need to own a 6 figure watch would be pretty astounding. it was very pretty though.

This is not a click bait video - Daniel Craig talks about his watches.
