Armed robbery just isn't safe anymore

Quote:

The 80-year-old California liquor store owner caught on video opening fire at a would-be robber with a shotgun is now speaking out, saying "I did a lot of hunting when I was a little kid."

The incident early Sunday at Norco Market & Liquor in Norco, just east of Los Angeles, prompted the armed suspect to run out of his business screaming "he shot my arm off!"

"I would always protect my employees, my customers, myself. This instance, fortunately, I was here by myself, so I only had to worry about that. I took care of it and that was that," the store’s owner, identified by CBS LA as Craig Cope, told the station.

p.s. DON'T WATCH THE VIDEO

Good for the old guy but dang, the thug had an AR type platform. Fortunately, he didn't know how to use it.

The BG was probably counting on the owner freezing in fear. Instead he got "he shot my arm off". Too bad the owner can get the AR's as the spoils of battle.

Racerbvd 08-03-2022 07:48 AM

Sadly the owner had a heart attack after, any word on how he is?

Norco CA. was not a good choice for the bad guys.

The bad guys backed into a parking space, the owner chambered a round and was ready & able.
Bad guy with long rifle, arm was severely injured. He ran screaming " He shot my arm off"

The joke in Norco is: What's the state bird? Answer: The Horse Fly. Great cowboy town and a fine example of California western lifestyle

"He shot my arm off." Fantastic. It's too bad the guy didn't get another shot or two off to finish the job.

Por_sha911 08-03-2022 08:01 AM

The video said he is expected to be O.K.

that's too bad. Oh, you mean the old guy! OK, that's a good thing.

Dang old baby boomers don't cotton to getting robbed. He took care of the problem. Too bad he did not have a better aim.

Tobra 08-03-2022 08:23 AM

He hit the thug while hiding behind cover, not bad if you ask me.

Norm K 08-03-2022 08:29 AM

Some liberal prosecutor will try hard to find a way to charge the old guy, claiming that the poor robber-victim was attempting to turn and escape before the shot was fired.

edit: oops, I probably shouldn't have said liberal prosecutor, as someone is likely to accuse me of PARFing up the thread. Of course, I meant to say right-wing prosecutor.

They just edit your post if you really meant it. Please make it non parf by taking out a few words.

Dang..wish the thug could receive hospital visitors. It would be great if somebody could walk in his room, point at him, then say; "HA-HA!"

Shooting with a shotgun it is hard to miss totally.

Tobra 08-03-2022 10:56 AM

Riverside, not LA, so he will probably be okay

Still not bad for blind shot, all he needed to do was persuade him to go away. Looked like a pretty short gun

GH85Carrera 08-03-2022 11:04 AM

So I presume they will not bother to charge the wood be robber since he did not get any money and was injured.

Bill Douglas 08-03-2022 11:39 AM

Moral of the story, never bring an AR into a shotgun fight, haha.

rusnak 08-03-2022 11:46 AM

Not sure what gauge the shotgun was, but it made a sound like a 410 firing birdshot.
