Wow. Huge crush when I was a young fella, and I was probably too young to really know why.

Part of the trifecta of hot in the glory days of my yoot:

Cheryl Tiegs, Farrah and Olivia Newton-John.

Everyone should read that book. Cancer is just an insidious villian.

Steve Carlton 08-08-2022 01:37 PM

That's a shame- only 73. I liked her!

Same here. It was either 1975 or 76 when she performed at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo that I borrowed my dad's camera with a telephoto and tried to take some photos at the concert. Most came out pretty shaky, no tripod, but this one was better than the rest.

Sadly, cancer is a whole host of villains. That's the mistaken understanding belief that a lot of folks have (not saying that you share it) that cancer is a single villian. ie, "why haven't they cured cancer?"

Unfortunately, that's like saying "why haven't they cured headaches?"

Good stuff. That was probably 4-5 years before I was aware of her. I have no idea when I saw Grease, but I think Grease gave her career a boost, and that is what put her on my radar. I remember ads for Xanadu, and then some of the songs/music that became popular after that. So I probably remember starting to see her late 70s early 80s.

That makes me very sad. I think many of us are of an age where we had major crushes on her, and for good reason. What a pretty young lady she was.

More importantly, as she aged, what a truly beautiful person she turned out to be. Far too many of our adolescent crushes turn out to be pretty terrible people in the end, "believing their own press" and all of that. She seemed to remain quite genuine. RIP, young lady.

My first words were, oh man! 😢

I think when Grease came out, you were not a red blooded American guy, if you did not have a crush on her. I was dating a girl a couple years younger me at the time and she would wear those pants with the Candy high heels. She was smokin hot too.
