This looks cool. I've been thinking about something similar for my daily.
Right now I'm using a vintage Singapore Airlines carry bag that I got for free. However I'd bet EVERYTHING shown in this video is "Made in China". <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/xKYxcCiyWIM" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Peter, Maybe not all China. If I'm not mistaken the Husky tool line from Home Depot is made in Tiawan, and are pretty good quality wise. Sort of mid range, like the old USA made Craftsman tools were. Maybe not as good as those old Craftsman tools, but much better than the cheap Chinese stuff.
The beauty of a roll is it's tool accessibility...no dragging out a handful of stuff to find the tool you want. |
For my track car, I didn’t want to load/ unload tools from my garage toolbox, so I stopped off at Harbor Freight and bought a heavy weight cloth bag. Loaded it up with $200 of sockets, ratchets, screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers etc. Hopefully, enough to keep me running over the weekend if something happens.

Me too...recently decided to fill in on my 1/2" drive sockets...most of the Craftsman stuff was 12 point. So, bought a set of Tekton (Taiwan) 6 point standard depth. With rails...pretty impressed with the quality when they arrived. Love the rails...sockets locked in, turn 1/4 turn to lift off.
Shudder to think how much the same set would cost me off a snap-on truck... https://www.tekton.com/1-2-inch-drive-6-point-socket-set-shd92002 |
For some reason the factory tool roll for my 911 was kept by a previous owner, so I have never had it. For around town driving I have enough tools to jack the car up and replace a tire, and a large trash bag to put the old dirty tire in the haul it home. Never needed to do that in 27 years.
I also carry the tools to replace the fan belts, but I replace them every few years so it is unlikely I will have that issue either. For road trips, I carry a painters coveralls made of Tyvek, gloves, hand cleaner, and a stand set of wrenches, sockets, and zip ties, duct tape, a kneeling pad, and several towels. So far in my travels, I have had zero issues. When it get down to it, my cell phone is the most important tool. |

Back in the day when laptops were about the size of three bricks, I kept two laptop bags. They lie flat across the front of the trunk in the SC and are full of tools, factory tool kit and a scissor type (Toyota) jack.

Sparco/boxo makes this cool roll, way to expensive I think at 450$, the tools are nice but not usa/europe made. I think a battery jump back and an inflator are the 2 most useful tools to carry. |

Besides what are you going to measure on your car when you work on it?😂 |
I forgot I had this. Bought about 10 years ago from the local cheap auto parts store. It was on special for $20.
The fact is I would have been happy to pay twice that because of the Martini Stripes. :) Right now I use it to store aerosol spray cans and stuff but I may use it in my Porsche at some point in the future. (Not too big and it has a solid plastic bucket base - Rather handy because if something leaks inside it, it's easy to clean up.) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1661480247.jpg |
