Carry tools?
(Orignally posted in PARF by mistake)
A way to carry that's better than a box or a bag...a roll. This one seems to be loved by the off road set. Looks cool to me...he showing his tools kind of boring, but that functionality of the roll is interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAzZLoL2oD8&ab_channel=KramerJunction

Just got back from a 1000 mile roadtrip last Wednesday.
Here's the tool roll. Love the tool roll. (Looks like the guy in the vid takes every tool in the toolbox; but that's a whole 'nother situation, doing the off-road rock-crawly thing) ![]() ![]()

Roll up looks more sensible than a "bucket".
I bought a DeWalt bag with sewn in pockets for everything. It was fetching to look at. I thought, this could be my road bag when standing in Home Depot just before purchase. Picture yourself digging into the center tub of stuff for that small container of plumbers putty you haven't used in nine months. If I use it I pack it before each trip. It's not a good catch all. ![]()

In the bin: 2 qts of earl, gloves, kneepads, coveralls, headlight, task light, multimeter, spare belts, gallon of water, roll of shoptowels, flares.
Pack your fears, baby; it was 100 degrees purt' near everywhere I went, and believe me, my active imagination can conjure up a situation. Food, potable water and such in the cabin.

Yep - Got a ballistic nylon tool roll in the 911. Packs small, keeps things organized and quiet.

I have a tool bag for dirt biking. I primered and painted them bright construction zone pink so they show up when working in the field. That pesky 10mm won’t get away from me!

Here it is at the side of the road outside Baker City during a roadside repair. (Loose ground near the battery, solved and on my way in two shakes of a lamb's tail) ![]()

Smart...the kneeling pad. Something needed that life teaches us. Bigger trunk in the Mustang, so I bought a kitchen rug at Wal-Mart for a few bucks. Also carry a pair of cheap cotton gloves...yep, lookin' good over there in the high desert of Eastern Oregon..

Yep...my old bucket boss roll is made of heavy duck old fashioned canvas...they make good stuff. Anybody here looking for a tool roll could do worse than add bucket boss to the list of considerations. The one in the opening post probably overkill on a car...but as mentioned, off road guys might have a need to take lots.

Yeah, I have a true Masons bag, white with the leather bottom that I use for tools too, but the BucketBoss version is more practical because it has all sorts of pockets and nooks and crannies to squirrel stuff away. Without the pockets the Masons bag is just a giant maw, where the one thing you need will be in the bottom under the lead weights.
