You mean…like - waking up with great sex, followed by a perfect cup of coffee, then my signature cornmeal waffles with maple syrup, bacon, more coffee, and OJ…then into my perfectly dialed in 944 with my large format film photo gear - for a very spirited drive on many twisties into Franconia Notch to photograph waterfalls (and the light is perfect), then a spirited drive home - arriving just in time to receive a phone call from my gallery that they’ve sold a bunch of my very large, painstakingly handmade (darkroom) prints to a very wealthy collector…followed by a celebration (with wife and close friends) starting with a good bottle of proseco, perfectly warmed cheeses, a bump of Laphroaig, then onto my perfectly grilled steaks with lobster and corn on the cob…followed by my signature flourless chocolate cake accompanied by a healthy snifter of Grand Mariner - topped off with a nice shower before bedtime…and finally crawling into my kingsized bed with freshly cleaned sheets, and - to top it off…more great sex?
Cue up that song from the Pirates of Penzance….”no never? No Never! no never? Well…Hardly Ever!” |

I've had a lot of great days. The births of my children and grandchildren are unequaled. However, the one day that marked the height of best days is the day I left the wheelchair behind forever. Hard to beat that.
|
Almost every day is great. Certainly some are better than others.
The days we receive payment on the large projects are extra wonderful. My wife and I took a road trip to Gettysburg, PA and to Valley forge, then toured Pennsylvania for several days, and drove home, 3,650 miles in 10 days in my 911. Several great days in that trip, and a great vacation. |
Been a while. But hopefully .....
|
Shaun,
I came out of Bullet Train and asked my family to rate 1-10. I gave it a 10. My family gave it 9's. The one outlier gave it a 2 - not sure what her evaluation scale is calibrated to. Summary: It was exceptional. But I am a fan of dark comedy. |
And now for the annotated version:
You mean…like - waking up with great sex, (hey, at my age…any sex is great sex!) followed by a perfect cup of coffee, (the only thing perfect about my coffee is that its caffeinated) then my signature cornmeal waffles with maple syrup, bacon, more coffee, and OJ (followed by a call to my cardiologist)…then into my perfectly dialed in 944 (still working on that) with my large format film photo gear (feeling mysteriously heavier as the years go by) - for a very spirited drive on many twisties into Franconia Notch (typically stuck behind a slow dump truck blowing black exhaust) to photograph waterfalls (and the light is perfect), (more typically either blazing sunlight and overcrowded or raining hard) then a spirited drive home (following yet another dump truck) - arriving just in time to receive a phone call from my gallery that they’ve sold a bunch of my very large, painstakingly handmade (darkroom) prints to a very wealthy collector (still waiting for this to happen…) followed by a celebration (with wife and close friends) starting with a good bottle of proseco (forgot to place this in fridge earlier), perfectly warmed cheeses (forgot to take them out of fridge earlier), a bump of Laphroaig (all I do is pour…what can go wrong?), then onto my perfectly grilled steaks (50/50 that I’ll burn those steaks) with lobster and corn on the cob (at least I can boil water!)…followed by my signature flourless chocolate cake (absolute worst calorie bomb) accompanied by a healthy snifter of Grand Mariner (chocolate/booze combo will keep me awake for sure) - topped off with a nice shower before bedtime (running wet and naked afterwards to the guest bathroom for a clean towel)…and finally crawling into my kingsized bed with freshly cleaned sheets (and even more freshly anointed with shedded dog hair), and - to top it off…more great sex? (I knew that chocolate/booze combo was keeping awake for a reason!) Cue up that song from the Pirates of Penzance….”no never? No Never! no never? Well…Hardly Ever!” (Hardly ever can sure feel like never!). |

I classify 99.99% of my days as good+ so no complaining from me.
great is a tough benchmark. Had a great time at my brothers wedding 6 months ago. Was outdoors and the weather was awesome, I was the best man and my speech killed, kids were running around having a great time with their cousins and behaving. Otoh I did catch covid at said wedding, so you take the bad with the good I suppose |
Last father's day is about the only bad day I can remember having.
Every other day has been varying degrees of awesome. |
I blame all the good days for my inability to sleep later in the mornings.
First thing I think of when waking...all the good stuff I want to do today. (just like a kid on Christmas morning) |

That's good stuff! I will add...... George Harrison once explained the purpose of life It is perhaps the biggest question of them all: What is the purpose of life? It led Fyodor Dostoyevsky to proclaim that it is about “finding something to live for,” it prompted Kurt Vonnegut to say, “I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don’t let anybody tell you different,” and it called for Karl Pilkington to posit, “There isn’t a meaning of life, or if there is don’t worry about it, you’re here now, get on with it! It does my head in!” All of which are valid, but the more opinions you can get on this sort of thing, the better. SmileWavy |
For me - I find myself taking pleasure in the simple things in life.
Regardless of what else happens that day - because as is the theme of this thread - a good day with everything lining up with the planets is sometimes hard to come by. If I can go down ma stretch of road with no one holding me up - just something like that kinda makes my day. |
I classify 99.99% of my days as good+ so no complaining from me.

Had a brief bout with the covid last weekend, finally felt great Friday, went fishing yesterday. Bait in the cast net was kinda thin but I did get a few 9" or so mullet. Got one big topsail catfish, but then got to tangle with this guy - 39" bonnethead

Far and away the bulk of my days are very good!
I'm lucky in sooo many ways, good health, energy to work on projects mostly of my choosing, mountains nearby and a fresh 3.0 to play with! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1662309772.jpg |
