Ever get Nikasil replated?
As mentioned in my other thread, a hamfisted idiot didn’t install the piston rings correctly on my son’s KX85 dirt bike on a previous overhaul. The cylinder has 2 deep gouges in it. I’m quite surprised it ran and made decent power like this.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1662431110.jpg It appears that Moose and Cylinder Works replacement cylinders are all back ordered. I may be able to get a Kawasaki one for $700 (I will find out tomorrow). The other options are a steel liner from LA Sleeve or having mine welded up and replated locally. I’m going to drop by the local guy with the cylinder tomorrow to get a price and time frame. https://www.skylarkcylinders.com/ Have any of you ever fixed nikasil cylinders before? |
Often.
https://www.millennium-tech.net/serviceInfo.php?id=1 Is my usual go to. or https://www.eric-gorr.com/index.php/services/services/2-stroke-services If I want some port work while I'm there. Or https://www.usnicom.com/DirtBike/CylinderRepair usc does the plating for Eric Any one of those will be quality work. . |
