Daily Driver 911
This is Chris Jacobs' daily driver 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa. The appraiser guy says it's worth 50k, what say you?

Probably close in MO. It is a nice original car that's been unmolested. Problem is.............................nothing has been done other than, hopefully maintenance. And at over 100K miles and years, there's a lot of things that would need addressed, therefor someone will need to put a fair amount of time and money, possibly a rebuild.

Sounds about right. I have my 85 Carrera insured for 65K. It is a coupe, with 186,000 miles. Rebuilt engine, rebuilt transmission.
I have refurbished suspension bushings, Bilstiens, and much upgraded AC system, so I can drive it on 100+ degrees day in comfort. My wife will ride with me on trips like this summer, we went to the Poconos. A 3,650 mile 10 day trip. I honestly think it would be very hard to find another 3.2 Carrera as nice as mine for 65K. It ain't fer sale.

Owner is told nah, more like 50k Owner says ok, cool. But I'm not selling. - Drives away. Yeah, there is a lot of that out there. Owners quite content with their air coolness ![]()

Opened my Hagerty renewal just a bit ago. Up about 40% from last year. A little shocking. Been with them over 20 years . Never a claim. My driving record is clean as a whistle. 3 356's, 2 911's, and a boxster on the policy, all probably greatly undervalued.

When I went shopping a couple years ago, I found Grundy to be a lot more affordable than Hagerty.

I use American National (ANAPAC) for my house, and all three cars. My 911 has agreed value as does my El Camino. I am restricted to 7,499 miles per year, and that is not an issue as even on long trips I am usually under that.
I pay 422 per year for full coverage with a 65K agreed valuation. The El Camino is even cheaper to insure as it is less valuable. Back in 2007 I was in California and a crazy deer decided to try to jump through my windshield. She caved in the hood, smashed the windshield, and headlight rings, fenders and lots of damage. It was derivable, and after driving through LA at rush hour with a smashed windshield, I got to San Diego and got a new windshield installed and drove it home. The insurance company did not blink. I got several estimates, and I took it to a place that specializes in old air cooled 911s. I told him to make it look like it did before. It was just a ultimate bug hit, rock chip. No rock chips after it was done. ![]()
