Does Avatar stand the test of time
Avatar 2 is coming out soon and since the first one was released in 2009, Avatar is in theaters again to refresh your memory, get new people to see it and then 2.
Probably shouldn't have been, but we were amazed at how good it was and looked like it was made today, the latter being a little surprising. Making "does it stand the test of time" irrelevant and the real question is, will Avatar 2 be as good as the first. Don't leave when the credits start rolling if you see it. Side note, also saw Pan's Labyrinth at AMC last week too. That was mind-blowing to see it again on the big screen.

Nope. Lots of things about it drove me crazy so I didn't care for it in the first place. Too many things didn't make sense.
As far as the technical side, it still looks good.

I loved it. Burned a few new circuits into my brain. It was a paradigm changer.

I'll see Avatar 2 eventually. I'm not going to run out to see it at the theater.
Avatar 1 was really good. I saw it in 3D and was impressed with the 3D effects. It was beautifully done with impressive CGI. It didn't change my world though.

Side note, also saw Pan's Labyrinth at AMC last week too. That was mind-blowing to see it again on the big screen. That one (PL) would be my choice of the two to see on the big screen. I'll prob see A2....I'm just wary of it being too much like the first and nothing more. Sigourney is back in it?

Steve I think Pan's Labyrinth would be my choice too if I could only see one on the big screen. That said, Avatar really does need to be seen on big screen to fully appreciate it's scale and grandeur.
