At one of the Porsche club events I happened to be in front of a Carrera GT on a road tour. On one straight I deliberately slowed down so he would pass, and I got to hear the GT pass me. It was great, and he manged to pass quickly.
![]() Everyone should go to a top fuel funny car drag race at least once to hear and feel (through hearing protection) the sound of a sub 3 second 300+ MPH 1/4 mile 7,000 HP 1/4 mile run. Not necessarily a nice sound, but it has to be experienced to understand what real power is. Only a large rocket launch is more awesome.

There's a lot of talk in the other thread about Chris Harris being an awesome presenter for these sorts of videos, and he is one of my favorites. But, Jason Camissa is also one of my favorites. He brings humor as well as being a good presenter. I also think Randy P rocks.
The LFA sounded pretty snoozy compared to the CGT, IMO. Also, the modern RS3 didn't sound as good as the old modified one to me. Great/fun video.

I feel like Jason, Randy, and Chris Harris would make a pretty good show like Fifth Gear or Top Gear without the over the top, too-scripted silliness that it became. I enjoyed the earlier Top Gears better than the later stuff (which wasn't bad). I also enjoyed the Fifth Gear with Tiff and Vicki B-H. I honestly can't remember the other presenters from Fifth Gear.

I tend to agree...drag race and V-8 belong together for "best sound"...

My personal feeling is that the mid-90's Pro Stock cars sounded the best of all the drag racers. Naturally aspirated V8's with oodles of factory money and engineering behind Ford, GM and Mopar cars that went faster and faster every year.
2nd on that list would be mid to late 60's early 70's Top Fuel cars. Loud but not so loud as to be painful, and the nitro made them 'crisp'. Here's a classic burndown between Scott Geoffrion and WJ. And Buster wasn't gonna put up with these shennanigans.

Just searched, but couldn't find it. An old Top Gear episode, the lads driving a trio of exotics in the USA. They went to a drag strip....and got smoked by the locals. Of course, had to ham it up a bit, them sneering at the starting line, etc. Funny as hell...

Definitely ProStock. Amazing motors. 500 inches, NA, and running sub 7 second passes. Always rooted against Warren, but he was the Show in that class, as was Glidden before him.
