1970 Sea Ray SRV190 with blown motor

Ok guys, what should I do with this thing?
Bought it about 4 years ago, used it for 3 summers quite a bit, but now the motor is locked up.
Havent done too much research yet, but thinking an engine rebuild cant be too much, relatively speaking of course.
Wifey wants to get rid of boat, but I am a hoarder so that is not my favorite option.

Options are:
1. I rebuild the engine, which I really dont have time to do right now.
2. Pay somebody to rebuild the engine. Tough to pay a couple grand on an engine because the whole boat was only a couple grand!
3. Let her sit and rot in my shed.
4. Sell her for ?$s?

Not mine, but best pic I can find.
Pretty cool little boat.

I would suggest pricing similar boats on Ebay and Craigslist to answer your questions.
You need to figure out what the boat is actually worth, even if operational. -WW

They're are just way to many small runabouts on the market so I doubt anyone would give you any money for it. Best bet is to list it on CL for free. With luck you will get a dreamer to take it off your hands saving you the disposal cost. Take the $2-$3K you would have spent rebuilding the boat and go buy one of the thousands of running boats on CL.

Scuttle it? Give it away? Part it out?
Come on guys, where are the hourding enablers?
No votes for letting it rot in the shed?

Give it away to someone who will resurrect it.

The Sea Ray was a good boat but it is old, 47 years old. I'd be happy I got 3 summers of use out of it.

If the fiberglass and the rest of nits and grits are above average you might consider a rebuild. If not, it is a $500 or less boat. If you are going to replace the 190, weigh the cost of a rebuild on a boat you know against getting another used boat you don't.

https://www.smartmarineguide.com/boats-for-sale/sea-ray-srv-190

Again, nice boat but it will never be wooden.

We had the same thing happen. Donated the boat and took a tax deduction for the donation. I think it was boat angels. Not worth the time, expense and hassle to do that much work on an old boat.

My 21' Starcraft fiberglass open bow runabout with an iron duke 3.0L inline 4 (half of a Chevy 350) had leaking issues, with bad motor mounts. I ended up parting it out, and actually made more than I paid for it in good shape.

I sold the tandem trailer to a guy for $500 and two guns, I sold the lower unit to a guy for $600, and the motor for $400. I then turned it over and used it as part of my shooting range backstop.

My brother had that very same boat... took a lot of great trips to/from San Pedro/Catalina.
Great boat, hauled butt, well built (caught air a few times riding the swell) loved that boat.

Back in the day my brother rebuilt it once... was a total PITA back then... and that was a looooooong time ago.

Let it go, just IMHO

It would be worth several hundred $ to me....

That's how much I would pay someone to take it off my hands

1) Pay a guy to haul it away
2) Admit wife it right.
3) See step one.

We had a 74 Searay 240 in the late 80's. It was a great boat except for the OMC (oh my Christ) drive... dad rebuilt the engine in it and gave it a custom paint job and sold it for big money to a charter guy in the west coast of Vancouver island.

For a couple grand you could rebuild the engine in there. The great thing about these older sea rays is that they used no wood in the construction so no dry rot ever.

I'd take my newer jet boat (Seadoo Speedster) over this any day even if it isn't built any where near as good as your sea ray.
